Good news for Nadalites.

Chung was MIA. So, Rafa beat the in-form Ebden 7-6, 7-5.

I think Chung is still injured but he isn’t making that public.

Bad news for Nadalites.

Rafa lost to Lucas. But, decent scoreline. 6-7 (10-12), 5-7. Also, I don't think Lucas was a hot commodity recently.

This means Rafa is 50/50 for Wimbledon.

I thought there should be an official topic where Nadal fans can discuss the news, results, and everything related to the amazing champion, the one and only, Rafael Nadal.

Of course everyone is welcome to join this thread, but please let's do this with consideration, respect and moderation.

Feel free to contribute to this thread with the latest news, results, pics, etc.

I can't wait for tonight, Rafa's 1st round match of the USO, against David Ferrer.

Hi NF2013 - there were three Nadal fan group threads floating around, so I've merged them all into one.

Regardless what happens at this years USO I do wish Rafa would skip the Asian Swing ( Beijing and Shanghai) and rest his body from the HC season.

Doubt it will happen as Rafa the lure of $$$$$ is great, ( Beijing appearance fees particularly) but I think Rafa needs an extended break at this point in his career. It looks promising as of now that he’ll have back to back years as # 1 and I’d love him charged for 2019.

Well if he skips the Aisan Swing, Djokovic might be the one who ends with the year no.1 ranking tying Federer for 5. Djokovic is doing very well and has no points to defend. So I think Nadal will probably try to finish no.1 for a 5th time himself. Nadal has always said that he's a tennis player and therefore a tennis player plays tennis, not skip tournaments (unless there's a physical issue). I think he will try to play the Asian Swing, but for now I just hope he wins his 4th USO title, that would be epic.

I think a tennis player needs to manage his career and health. If it means “skipping” tournaments so be it.

Yeah but in tennis just like in life there are no garantees. You should strike when the iron is hot. Rafa skipped Cincinnati because he listened to his body, he decided at the last minute. So once the Asian Swing arrives he will decide at that point what to do based on how he feels physically and mentally. But planning to skip it in advance even if you're 100% healthy and playing top level tennis garantees nothing for Australia or wherever. Nobody knows the perfect strategy or can predict the future.

It's so sad Nad had to retire in this years USO, thus failed to defend it. He's been saying loud ly that he hated retiring, so I cannot imagine how bad he felt about this one. And he even made his mind about it a couple of games beforehand when he approached the ump and said "I'm going to retire anyway". I hope he's going to be OK. If not, I'd better him skipping the rest of the season and prepare his body for AO19 and next clay court where he's the best. At this stage of his career, he must look at Roger's example how to manage his schedule: play only what his body can realistically play, and do not try to play everything and then be sorry.

The above isn't a translation, I guess is obvious. He has an injury to the patellar tendon. He'll be out for around a month, or I guess now, around 3 more weeks.

Nadal has withdrawn from Beijing and Shanghai as he’s still recovering from the injury he got at the USO. That’s 1100 points lost. :( He has barely played full seasons due to his endless injuries, such bad luck. But the great news my fellow Nadal fans is that he always comes back so strong. Healthy Nadal is undefeated. B-)

Get well soon Rafa!

Is his withdrawal from Shanghai confirmed? What happens to YE#1 race. Have any of you crunched the numbers. As Fed is out of it, I am not seriously into the arithmetic of it.
