Rafa could go to Estoril the week before MC for matches, he could probably win the tournament in less then 5 hours play so would be fresh for MC.
I hope this year, he dosent play all his usual clay tournaments, there is no need, he just needs to play a few, before RG, that is my opinion, to get his clay legs in motion :)

I think he may play too many if this could be his last year on tour, MC, Barcelona & Rome is probably too much I guess it depends how he does?

I was looking at the live rankings today, and it had me wondering: With the injury lay-off looming, will Rafa finally fall out of the Top 10? I don't know where he is with the streak, though @the AntiPusher usually seems to be able to find that number. Do you think he can hold on to the top 10?

I’m not sure what the answer is (@rafanoy1992 probably does), but here’s the list. Screen shot (the end date just reflects the latest week; it’s not a claim that the streak has ended):

Hi Moxie, that's for the bump..he is ONLY going to be gone for 6 weeks..I thought because of injury your ranking gets protected, is that not correct?

Rafa just posted this on Twitter,

He did some tests in Barcelona, which confirmed what he discovered in Melbourne. In 3 weeks new test will give a clearer outcome on his recovery.

He’s safe for now according to the Live Rankings:

The question is what he has to defend in the next few months, especially in relation to what others have to defend. Then there’s the question of what others gain during this time …

Thanks I thought he was safe for now, he does have points to defend, though at this stage, with his injury it is still not clear when he will be able to return to the tour

Rafa is still on the entry list for Dubai and Doha I dont think he will be playing those tournaments
At this stage IW could be a plausible goal, depending on the results of these current tests he had in Barcelona

Doing my best to channel Rafanoy:

Rafa has 1100 points to defend in Feb/March. Worst case scenario and say he’s not back by Miami, even if those points slide off entirely Rafa would be outside the #10 by only 280 points.

Keep in mind, in this same time frame, other than Holger Rune most of the other guys in the 6- 12 have considerable points to defend: By my calculation Rublev is defending 1300 points, Taylor Fritz has 1190 points (including IW title) , Cameron Norrie 910, Felix 670, Hurtcatz 675, etc.

Plus, Rafa has only 270 points to defend in the spring claycourt tournaments leading up to Roland Garos. Can make up considerable ground this spring with a good clay showing so optimistically even dropping outside the top 10 would not be long lived.

Thanks for that. I certainly don't want Rafa to come back before time for the sake of this particular streak. It's still a record, by rather a lot. But you're saying that with some help, he might stay in the top 10, even if he doesn't come back by Miami?
