Certainly Novak has leaped forward to being one of the faves for the USO, but there were some cracks in his game at Cincy and certainly Toronto so I'm not convinced if he's in Nadal's half he's the slam dunk winner.

Though I would consider them 1 and 2 for the USO as far as chances,
I have no problem with the surface! It's just boring AF with Nadal; esp. when he's dominating with the ugliest game in the history of the sport behind Francios Durr! :nono:  :banghead: :negative:

Hey don't knock Francois Durr, she had the most unusual and interesting BH I ever saw...Amazing hands actually; how she won doubles crowns with her grip is beyond me.

Djokovic looked good, no problem (for current state of the competition). Are we aware of any dark horse(s) for USO? Idek. I did not actually watch Nadal by the way so I cannot tell about him. But since he won something that's got to mean he's playing his best game. I'd guess Djokovic and Nadal are leading the field and Roger's got a lot of work to do in order to get there. A lot of crap to be fixed. He was missing his shots by metres.

Rafa and Wawrinka chatting and practicing together and Moyá after a long vacation (he wasn’t in Wimbledon and Toronto) is in the Arthur Ashe again, great!

Who? He's still playing? He should give it up! All that talent & athleticism; it's done him lit'l good since he's as brittle as a twig! :nono:
Boy, that's harsh on such a good player.

Maybe comparing notes on comebacks from bad knees.

If JWTsonga struggles with his injury for such a long time, is doubtful he will be back in contention again at the top. He is also older, 33 and also a lot more to injuries than most of the top 20 players.

Qualifications at the USO have started today. Better known players who were successful on the first round: Robredo, Mahut, Kokkinakis.
Those who failed in round one: de Bakker, Gulbis, Tomic...

Felix was there, supposed to play today, but I cannot find his name anywhere now. Do you know what happened?

Well this is interesting, Andy Murray's former coach Ivan Lendl has teamed up with Alexander Zverev ahead of the US Open.

Real shame that Gulbis has been crap since his shoulder started giving trouble. Really underachieved in his career. Could've been top 5 with more commitment and less injuries.

It was a known fact that Lendl was working with Zverev this year although not on a full time basis.

Do you really think so? It's an odd and tricky game, but a world-beater? Not sure. Also, IF he had fewer injuries, and IF he had a better head, (and more motivation, since his daddy is rich,) is a lot of IFs. I'd leave Gulbis on the back-burner, where he belongs. I'd rather give the IFs to Kyrgios, for example. Or Nalbandian. Or even your beloved Soderling. Gulbis is, imho, not really worth a great deal of effort at regret for tennis lost.

Here are some dangerous floaters. Recall that dangerous floaters are unseeded players who may cause an upset or two.

1. Stan Wawrinka
2. Kohly
3. Querry
4. Monfils
5. Tiafoe

Conspicuous by absence from the above list is Andy.
