Rafa is completely out of rhythm. Hard to understand if he isn’t injured.
People are always willing to "go there!" No one actually beats Rafa! Something has to be wrong with him; even if they have to go to the "divorce card" of his parents! It's just so insulting to his opponents which is another good reason to dislike the guy!

Napo. He just not moving well...it's really no big deal. Madrid is not the goal..I think he plays it because he respects Feli who is the TD.. Conserve your energy and go to Roma(Rome)
Yeah you are right. Madrid was never his best clay tournament.
crystal clear what the main goal is!
But on this faster clay court he is struggling, hard to imagine see him win another slam outside of Paris. We will see.

Serving for 1st! Typical start w/ a DF, but coming back! Nadal's way back waiting for serve! He looks like an idiot, but that's Rafa! Sascha takes it! ;-)
If you consider Raphael Nadal an idiot on the tennis courts, well I want to trade working careers with him and Please be considered a neanderthal..

Have you forgotten that Rafa is the "true " two time defending champion at the USO..I think Rafa is on a 14-15 match consecutive streak in NY..Don't let the past few results at AO fool ya

Usually he rolls into form, became better every tournament till RG, but this year he played bad in MC, very well in Barcelona and today again very bad.
Roma is surely better ground for him and Paris the best. Nothing to worry about for Nadalfans.

Not surprised at all. In my opinion Nadal hasn't played a good match on clay since the last RG final and surely final in Barcelona was nothing but Tsitsipas choking and Nadal taking the opportunities due to experience and know how.

Rafa's form is miserable at the moment, but it still means nothing when it comes to RG.

Zverev won last 3 matches against Rafa. Well deserved.

Interesting summary. And when I think about it.... you are right.
He is still the man to beat on dirt.

Nadal,

"I had the match under control at the beginning, playing well for six games, probably playing better than him. Then in the 4-2 serving for 5-2,I did a disaster:......LOL! yes you did Rafa.....at least he is honest.

Shocked to read the result on tennis.com. Happens to them all as they get older in any case.

Big opportunity missed for both Karatsev and even Medvedev here with ShitsHisPants (he did in his last match) and Nadal gone. Up for grabs now and lots of potential points missed by the first 2.

Credit to Sasha he deserved his win,Rafa usually recovers, this time he could not,I am not surprised he lost he has not been playing well in Madrid, a surface that does not suit him, even though he has won 5 titles.

Casper Rudd continues to impress me he defeated Bublik 75 61 he had 4UFE
That's three straight Masters s/finals on clay for Rudd.
Wow, only 4. That's unreal. Finished work and went right for a walk again so must catch highlights.

True, the speed and altitude make it very different than standard clay. Rome is basically as close to RG as it gets so that's the best gauge of form but he could lose there as well and still comfortably win RG. Best of 5 is completely dfferent.

If Rafa lose on Chatrier this year and Novak on Laver next year, this will be the change of guard many poster here are long waiting for.
It’s coming nearer and nearer.
