The qualifying tournmanets which begins on saturday. Nobody outside of
top 100 in the qualifying. Folks like Ramos, Montanes, Hanescu and Andujar
have to play qualifying despite being dirt ballers.

Here is the qualifying draw.

Let the games begin and the dirt fly.

Some of the info you posted here is incorrect.
Andujar is not playing qualifying, he is ranked in the 30's, all the players up to Karlovic included (ranked 53) have direct entry.
Also there are players ranked outside of the top 100 who are in the qualifying draw.

Oops, the link was pointing to last year's qualifying. I will fix it. Sorry for the confusion.
But, Montanes and Ramos are still in the qualifying only. I cannot find Victor Hanescu
anywhere (neither in the entry list, nor in the qualifying draw), perhaps decided not
to play in MC. The last direct acceptance in the qualifying draw is ranked 117.

BTW, have they announced the other three wild cards? I could not find that info
anywhere.

It looks like the future star Dominic Thiem got one. 2 more are up for grabs.
May be Victor Hanesu will get one.

If Rafa wins FO (or some other slam) this year, it would mark the 10th consecutive year
in which Rafa has won at least one slam. He already has the record on this aspect beating
our Roger's eight last year with his nine.

Davydenko failed to qualify for MD, sad to see that. some rumours say that he'll retire at the end of 2014, he'll be missed anyway

So the draw for this event exists.

Potential Rafa v Ferrer quarters, followed by a wow-Waw pow-wow semi.

Fed and Nole drawn in the same half. Oh, I remember the days when Federer was number one and the Djokolites complained that their guy was always in Federer's half of the draw. Well, things have changed, fellers: now Federer is in Djoker's half... ;)

Also, I heard that this is the first Masters tournament that he is involuntarily missing.
I don't know whether it is true as a matter of fact. I too heard the rumors that he plans
to hang his hat sometime this year.

Anyway, his legacy may be cemented as the answer to the trivia question of
"who has the winning H2H against Rafa?", if he retires by the end of this year. :clap

Wawrinka has the toughest draw.

He could face Verdasco in R2, Almagro in R3, Robredo in QF, Rafa in SF and Novak in F,
all dirtballers and/or elite players.

Fed got a kind draw. I do see him making SF at least. Opening match will be bit tricky
(against Radek/Dr. Evil). The QF will almost surely be against Fognini, who will make
it interesting and not against the Tsonga who is fading into oblivion at a rate faster
than Davydenko.

Dog has faced Rafa and Fed recently. Now it is his turn to face Novak. I don't see dog
doing anything other than wagging the tail for a few minutes here and there.

What is wrong with Gasquet, he did not even wait for the event to start before folding?

One thing that I can safely predict is that the two projected quarterfinalist with seed
numbers 7 and 8 (Raonic and Tsonga) will not make it to Quarterfinals. Raonic could
even be sent home in the very first match that he plays against Delbonis, the
former Federer Slayer and the winner of world's best indoor clay tournament.

Most probably their slots will be occupied by Robredo and Fognini when QF comes
around.

Davy did not fail to qualify. He just did not even play. I think he was initially in the
qualifying draw and must have withdrawn.

I agree that his quarter has the most clay-courters in it, and is the toughest…he won't have to worry about Novak, though. ;)

Why, do you think that he will win easily against Novak. :lolz:

Wonder whether anyone has hit a overhead smash in Monte Carlo that sends the ball
right into the sea. See pic in OP.

Let me educate you: Davydenko is not the only player with a winning record against Nadal, so the trivia question itself is wrong, as well as the answer.

I agree that he is not the only player with winning record against Nadal,; but isn't it true that
he belongs to a small group of such players?
