Anyway, moving back on topic, the Dude had a bit of a vent about the quality of his tournament, calling it a cupcake (bit rich coming from a Fedfan, but I'm never one to quibble :popcorn ) and I find myself having to agree. In fact, at almost every stage, players disappointed. I didn't expect Sasha to beat Rafa - but 6-1, 6-1?

Murray took a dive, and Stan followed about five minutes later - on the same court.

I thought Cilic would make a tiny ripple - but the only ripple he made was when he sunk to the bottom.

Novak flirted with disaster - then married her, against Goffin.

In fact, Goffin and Ramos are the only two (apart from rafa) who come outta this one glowing, but they're not contenders for anything big.

Any other youngsters involved? They did nothing much. Thiem took a quick look, and he was at the airport. It wasn't a tourney that gave us anything, other than Rafa making history. In fact, Barcelona looks more promising, in that regard...

Well if he had knee problems before the exho they sure as hell weren't present against Soderling. I first thought the exho was played on the same courts at Queens and then went searching for the link 'cos sad people that you Nadal fans are, you'd want proof. I forgot to edit to Hurlington. Wow, big deal. Is that all you have to correct me on? Either way what I said stands, he was fine against Soderling and lost. Deal with it.

Are you so unable to read the link that you posted? :laydownlaughing

It contradicts what you said about Rafa getting injured "at Queens" - a tourney he'd withdrawn from with dodgy knees, long before the exo with Hewitt. :cover

Seriously bro, give it up. You'll have me thinking there was feck all wrong with Federer's knees last year at Wimbledon. In fact, I just watched highlights of the two five setters the octogenarian played over 3 days, and saw nothing at all amiss... :cover

No actually, I was trying to feed an 11 month old baby and get him ready for bed. So excuse me if I typed the wrong name. Sigh. As I said, I thought the exho was on the Queens' courts before Queens itself. Basically you're nitpicking at me typing Queens instead of Hurlington simply because you're deflecting away the attention as you know I'm right that he was physically moving 100% fine against Soderling. Which 2 x 5 setters might these be regarding Federer? He clearly fell randomly against Raonic out of nowhere not even running for a ball flat on his face. Unless you think it's normal for a guy's knee to just give out like that out of nowhere and for him to slump on his face in the dirt. Btw he looked pretty much ok up until that point in that Raonic match and I'm not gonna be a knob and say he wasn't unlike you. But once he fell face down out of nowhere it was obvious he came back too early from his surgery.

Ever hurt yourself in the gym or anywhere for that matter, even sitting at a desk in work? You tweak something and feel it days later most of the time. It's pretty obvious Nadal was fine against Soderling but as I've pointed out a million times already, it got worse after his efforts during clay court season. The guy overplayed on clay for years so it was bound to catch up with him eventually. But it caught up with him after that Sodering defeat because he moved as well as always there.

No, I'm not nitpicking. You said he got the injury at the exo, right?

The exo took place after the Queens Club tournament. And he'd already withdrawn from Queens immediately after RG, due to his knees. He played the exo to test the knees before Wimbledon. He withdrew from Wimbledon because his knees failed the test. Your claim that he got injured during the exo was false (and wasn't even supported by the link you posted to support your claim).

And get your missus to feed the baby - that's wimmins work... :snicker

No I didn't, I said he could move as fast and well as ever against Soderling and could also bend fine against Soderling but he told uncle phoney he couldn't bend at the exho. Clearly as I said, it got worse. Is this f*****g rocket science for your comprehension skills or what lol ? No offense.:s Wife's at work. He's asleep now anyway.

No, clearly as you said, he got injured at the exhibition. Now stop trying to question my comprehension skills - when the link you posted to support your claim contradicted you in the very first paragraph. :laydownlaughing

First of all, I've already stated I thought the exhibition match was played at same courts as Queens so big deal, wrong tournament name. Wow. Secondly, he could bend fine at RG all tournament so where exactly am I wrong when he told his uncle he couldn't bend at the exhibition match? As I said, it got worse. Is it REALLY still that hard to understand?

Leave it bro, your posts are a matter of record, people can easy see that you claimed he got injured at an exo that took place 2 weeks after he'd withdrawn from the Queens tourney with the same injury.

Let's move on...

Jesus H Christ, you're sad. I said it got worse after the long clay season which he overplayed as usual as he does every damn year. He could move and bend fine all RG and then suddenly he couldn't at the exhibition. You've embarrassed yourself enough already I think everyone here except the blind Nadal fans will agree. The irony is you think you're right :cover Last time I checked he was bending and moving just fine all RG 2009 and told his uncle he couldn't at that exhibition because it's just same as going to the gym too many times which is over training. You're more susceptible to injury when you do too much. He played too much in clay season and it caught up with him after RG. Anyway, go back to your dream world.

He's definitely gotten a shot in the arm from beating Nole, and he started strong against Rafa before the dastardly Spaniard robbed him blind in broad daylight on a dodgy call (that's sarcasm, btw, and though it's obvious I still feel the need to say that). But Goffin lacks that big thingy that makes him a huge threat at a slam, for me. I couldn't see him holding out for five against a top player, and in fact, he might be prone to going down in flames early on against a similar middle standard player.

Yeah, he's in the top ten, but you know what I mean...

Goffin strokes are clean.. he will be tough to beat best 3 of 5 sets .. trust me..he has strokes as good as Ferrer

Even bigger than Ferrer, I'd say, and I really admired how he scrapped like a dog to break back in the final set against Nole - and then win it. He vanished somewhat after the umpire incident against Rafa, but that might have been due to fatigue catching up on him, and he might have drained the last of his batteries going mental there. He's a player that the top players would expect an honest effort from, and so probably a tough match, so you maybe right, bro...

I know you think this is funny, but - said in jest or not - I find this really inappropriate.

Attitudes like this have held us back for centuries, and they still do despite all progress. And I don't only mean holding women back in their own careers by expecting them to shoulder the childrearing on their own, but also holding men back from forming the bonds with their children that they might otherwise have had.

I say this as a man who has done, and continues to do, a fair amount of baby feeding, nappy changing, etc. And i wouldn't want it any other way.

Front, however wrong you may be about Nadal, I salute you on this! :)

(Sorry to be OT, but the thread had already gone off the rails ...)

^ Cheers but don't think I was wrong in saying there was nothing visibly in any way wrong with him against Soderling.
