Yep I would. And it'd still be his weakest slam if he had 4 or 5 :D
I can watch Nadal play on clay and no matter how much his skill on the surface is extraordinary it doesn't mean I enjoy watching it. Do I recognize what an achievement it is for Nadal yes I do but it really is a snooze fest for me. Let me reiterate the skills needed to be successful or great on clay are admirable but watching it doesn't do much for me. And yes I would still feel the same even of Fed had a great GS record at RG.

Stop right there. I need to defend clay. That is the surface I play on. It is not just a war of attrition, but yes it has more attrition than the others. It takes skill to slide and hit, it... oh, wait, Darth is exercising his sacred right to rant! Sorry! Never meant to interrupt. Please go on!

Regarding the tournament, Nadal seems untouchable right now. Thiem is visibly bellow his 2017 level, where he could compete with him, while Nadal himself seem to be a tad better. 6x3 6x4 at best.

Djokovic won the first set today out of pure will. He is at 34%. In IW he was at 12%.

Surprisingly high level match (the parts I watched) between Nishikori and Seppi.

Regardless the taste of each one to watch playing well on clay is a wonder and very enjoyable for the eyes. Some people liked Sampras’s game, to me (I don’think I’m the only one) was very boring and I’m glad to see no one is playing like him anymore

I'm just teasing Moxie and the excited Rafa nuts. They know it's their time to be thrilled and that's why so many have come back. It is a bore to me though and that's regardless of the evil one destroying everyone. This time of year is a great time to tune into the NBA playoffs for me.

I don't know. I normally play lawn tennis or on tarmac courts (it's a thing in Britain. Some places have grass (lawn) tennis courts & some people have tarmacadam *named after John McAdam who was the Scotsman who originally came up with the process of macadamisation or tarmacking*). I'd have thought it would require the same skills though.

The clay season for lack of a better phase is Darth’s menstruated cycle.. meaning he is just extremely sensitive during this time..

Lord, if you're going to be crude, get it right: it's a menstrual cycle. (And that was kinda funny.) Yes, the better Rafa plays, no matter the surface, the crankier Darth gets. But at least he's around, and he's excellent value, especially when he's crabby.

Clearly you missed the first set, but otherwise, it was a fun match between Seppi and Nishikori. Good to see Kei playing well. And Seppi, because I like him.

I agree that Thiem looks less than his best. He IS coming back from foot injury, but he should really have closed out the first set (though credit to Novak for hanging tough and taking it.) Anyway, that won't get it done v. Rafa. If Nadal keeps up this level, I don't see who can take him, for now.

Also of note, and esp. @isabelle : Richard Gasquet reached his 500th career win today by beating Mischa Zverev. In doing so, he foiled the match between the Zverev brothers, who have yet to play each other on tour. I was wondering....obviously, we have the Williams sisters who have played each other many times. Anyone know the last time we had brothers playing each other? Anyway, we'll still have to wait for this one.

I remember a McEnroe brothers match way back when...

Obviously, you are entitled to your own opinion and your own tastes, but I do find this rather astonishing from someone who is enough of a tennis fan to post on tennis forums. I don't love Roger, but sometimes I like to turn off the sound and just watch him glide across the courts. It is a beautiful thing, and I can admire it. And watch it. Once my father told me to watch Michael Jordan play basketball, before anyone much knew who he was. He said it doesn't matter if you don't even care about basketball...it's as gorgeous as ballet. And he was right. For me, personally, I'd watch any athlete at the top of their game and enjoy it. If it's a game I love, doubly so.

My cycle only comes when that motherfu...I mean lovely gentleman from Mallorca is biting a big trophy. Like I said, I got NBA to rescue me from the ugly clay doldrums

That was some excellent restraint there! Enjoy the basketball, but do drop in once in a while to vent your spleen.

Meanwhile Novak got mad after Bernardes gave him a warning because he was taking too long to serve and then look what he did.......

https://twitter.com/i/web/status/986970377233489920

He didn't shake Bernardes' hand. I hadn't seen that. I did notice that you only get a cuddle from him at the net if he wins. I get that he's in a delicate place in his comeback, but if he's going to be all Amor y Paz when he wins, he should be Amor y Paz when he loses. Otherwise, just play tennis and leave off the bromides.

Nothing wrong with not shaking the ump's hand. I'd have greater issue with someone being diva enough to insist that a ump be banned from his matches for enforcing a time penalty.
