Talking about men at least Rafa was playing, Roger didn't even get on the court :laydownlaughing

Don't be too loud, Carol, there's been many times Rafa was sidelined with injury and Roger was playing. It's not something I'd boast about...

It's not only heat, but humidity. Even Nadal's opponent called a MTO due to feeling dizzy, and considered retirement. It's obviously an issue, or players wouldn't retire, feel dizzy, etc...

I realize that but the humidity isn't that high at the moment. I was checking yesterday and it was 68% which isn't high really and they play in way hotter places like Dubai, Melbourne, Rio and even London. Yes, Wimbledon last year was way hotter than Miami and the court side temps reached 44C which is nuts and the humidity in western Europe is often worse than tropical climates. They either aren't drinking enough water to counter their diuretics or they've all caught some bug.

Why would you think that this group of the most well conditioned athletes in the world wasnt drinking "enough water" in Key biscayne this week. Front, anyone can succumb to heat exhaustion no matter how much water you consume. Its really depends how much you hydrate your body with (water, fruits, veggies, salt and etc) the day before

Diuretics remove water from the body and are used as masking agents for PEDs. Tons of athletes are using fast acting diuretics and doping and not getting caught because they urinate the drugs before getting tested but the result of diuretics is of course dehydration so if you don't counter by drinking an absolute TON of water you get dizzy, you cramp, feel faint. It's no wonder we're seeing more and more of this in recent years.

I see that any of you have any idea how hot yesterday was here. Around 12 pm was 88 degrees and 82 % humidity I was walking down one street to get some coffee and I felt melted like butter and I remember thinking about what a brutal day was for the players
Today seems to be a little better, they say the the maxim temperature will be 83

Front 242, and what that has to do with the brutal heat and humidity or a bad digestion maybe due to a poisson food like one time happened to me and I felt dizzy thinking that I went to faint at work under the AC?

Sorry thought he did. Was away for the last 2 days and couldn't watch matches on my wife's tablet for some reason. Still though, more than 4 have quit mid match this tournament so something is definitely going on. Heat/humidity seems strange considering it's only best of 3 and these guys play in way hotter conditions than this. So it's either food poisoning (all of them ? very unlikely), a very contagious virus or drug testing.

I suppose that under your speculations are including also to Roger, isn't?

Oh, man. I watched a very even set between Berdych and Johnson and Steve tried very hard to stay with Tomas and it paid off in the end, as he steals the set in the TB, on an UE by Tomas in the TB, which ended with 8-6 for Johnson.
They now go to the decider set.

Was 69% humidity yesterday too when I checked. That's the thing with internet weather reports. EVERY site tells you something different.

Agree but I live in Miami so I don't need to check the internet weather reports (just my thermometer outside and in my car) today is a beautiful day, more breeze and lot less humid than yesterday, hope it will continue the same all week

I'm glad that Simon won
Vamos Ferru!!!!!!!!

Hope you're measuring the temp/humidity in the shade and not in the sun for a true reading :)

Shawnbm told me similar, that the weather was better for tennis yesterday, but was much worse the day that Rafa and others retired.

Might be a good match with the Dog and Kei today. H2H has it straight-forward for Nishi, but blokes like the Dog can be unpredictable. Grigor v Murray too. Both players have fallen off their pace of 2013, but Andy at least has the game to get back up again (if he'd only sack that bloody woman :snicker )...
