Adjusting for the court and draw, I think Rafa has about the same chance of winning Miami as Roger does, maybe a tad more because I suspect he wants it more and Roger might hold back a bit to preserve his health. Rafa really wants/needs a big win.

But I think the title could be won by any number of players: Roger, Rafa, Stan, Thiem, Dimitrov, Kei, Milos, Kyrgios, Del Potro...it really feels like it could go to any of those guys.

I may regret it later, but I'd take Milos and Kei off that list. Both have been struggling with injury. And I'm not feeling Thiem. Or Del Potro, for that matter. He's still fighting his way though tough draws. However, with Andy and Novak out, players will be fancying their chances, and Roger and Rafa have been trying to take advantage of their absence. (Roger with more success.) Great players are very opportunistic. Let's see who wants it the most.

Clever drone view of the Miami Open.

Centre Court ("Stadium Court") is not as big as Indian Wells, but still holds an impressive 13,100.

I've always supported Rafa, in the good but also in his bad times. He has suffered some injuries, knee, back and wrist which have been an obstacle to reach more achievements and a serious reason to lose his confidence like he did for awhile but he is very smart and strong player and right now he is healthy and supposedly with his confidence back so I can't understand that passivity and bad serve that he has showed during some crucial matches, that's uncceptable. But I hope he changes the 'click' and Miami would be a perfect place to make it and then starting the clay season with a lot more confidence and motivation

Where is Donskoy now? He looked to be immensely talented in that match, I would like to assert. Where is he now? Why does he play on the challenger tour? He should come to the main tour ASAP.

I don't believe too much in 'slow or fast' surface but I believe more in how every player is playing at that time and not just physically but more important mentally

Remember Federer describing it as Green Clay a few years ago.

I can't believe you guys have managed to complain about a HC event and are even trying to stick it in the clay category. Federer HAS won there and Nadal hasn't, so you might give that a rest. And you're falling into Carol's notion that a surface is a belief-system.

Anyway, Miami is humid, so it may not be so much that the surface is slow, as much as the players there. :drums: (I'll be here all week.)

Isn't it a low bouncing court as well as being slow,it would be great if Rafa could finally win in Miami it is one Master's Trophy that is missing in his cabinet.

Just that and Paris. And he's been close at least 3 times in Miami.

Oops I forgot about Paris.
Yeah, and I think he's gotten as close in Paris as he's ever going to get. But Miami remains a possibility. With Nos. 1 & 2 taking a powder lately, Roger has been capitalizing, and Rafa not so far behind. They're really not guys to miss an opportunity. That's why, for me, they have a better chance than anyone else in the field.

Goodness me Roger has won enough already:) if Rafa cannot win,my other choice would be Del Potro.

I guess he came back to challenger tour, maybe it's better for him than to play qualies ??

It is slow, period. I am not complaining because of Federer, I am complaining because I don´t like when hards are THAT slow.

And, as I said in another post, I really don´t know why Nadal has not won it. Recently I rewatched the 2005 final, and I repeat: I believe he was the better player that day and deserved to win. One crucial bad call in fact helped Federer on that match (did I count all the bad calls? no. maybe some other even´d it out, but still).

And I am not falling in any notion other than the fact statistics show that given surfaces help given players, even if, as I stated before, my comment wasn´t oriented by that.

You know what? I HATE when people don´t let me complain. I love to complain.
