she should burn that outfit and forget about the first three months of the year...just wondering if she has a boyfriend. She could be winding down her career...she doesnt need a Miami title she won eight of them.I am sure she doesnt mind losing to Sveta her bff...
I agree, burn the outfit. It is ugly in any color.

Why the blame the outfit for her bad play? I actually like that outfit.

Serena has to decide whether she is going to go out with a bang or a whimper with her career, so far she is choosing the whimper part this year.

I'd be surprised now if she retires if this year continues like this. I can't imagine she would want to retire on a down year. She can do as Federer did and right the ship after the first year of adjusting to getting older.

I mean Serena suffered a terrible blow in being two matches away from the Calendar Slam, so I can understand how it must weigh on her mind, and she can't achieve it this year, so definitely out of the cards of possibilities for her to achieve period. I know she probably needed the time away after the US Open, but I think that time away was the worst idea. It gave her time to think which sometimes when you are trying to achieve things near the end of your career can be the worst thing possible. However, she has many things still within her grasp total # of consecutive weeks at number 1, most slam titles is still in play for now, she can out right own total # of slam titles for the US Open and officially be #1 in titles for Australian Open and US Open. I think she needs someone to remind her of these things. She can own the boxed set and win AO and FO mixed doubles. I think a heart to heart with Dad might be in order because Dad has drive and ability to show her what she can still achieve.

Keys won't get better until she embraces spin. She keeps beating herself by hitting long or into the net. Someone should tell her a thing or two about hitting with margin.

Keys hasn't done anything since she fired Lindsay. I'm thinking that was a mistake. Hiring this Jesse guy and then Mats to help her at the slams seems kinda desperate. Why hire 2 coaches when one good one will do?

Keys is just an impatient ballbasher, her attention span is limited....there is no thought process behind her shots.

She's looking for someone to tell her what she wants to hear rather than what she needs to hear.
"Overwhelm them with power, if it lands in then great!"
"Finesse and tennis IQ is for people with no power!"

Still looking for the coach who says this....:s

So.....are we thinking that Vika will win this tourney? She seems to have a clear path.

Folks keep talking about/alluding to Serena retiring...do we know what that means? The WTA in its current form doesn't have a standout superstar and the highly ranked players can't seem to make it to quarters or semis. Masters 1000 and Slams semifinals will look like the above, and to me, this feels boring. Boring for viewers, boring for sponsors and much more.

We need to hope that Serena gets out of the funk so we have a bit more time to craft the next couple superstars:puzzled....

I don't think Serena will retire this year. I agree her absence would make the WTA much less appealing. She is drawing eyeballs because she is making history. Let's hope she gets herself together and wins more majors and US gold in August.

yes its kinda boring when Serena is not playing well..Azarenka has no star quality,Kerber is very reserved to be a star and Sveta is just inconsistent..

I have faith Serena will find some motivation. If anything, I can't imagine she will want to go home without any glory this year. I also doubt she will want Vika to go on some sort of tear without being the one to take her down at some point. If there is one thing I do know about Serena, is and like we have all seen when we see the Azarenka's and Kerber's rise up and people start to throw Serena to the side is Serena comes out of nowhere and shuts everybody up. Now do I expect Serena to have a 2013 or 2015 year no, but given enough fuel she might come out and take a slam or two and a few big tournaments to prove a point.

Kerber can be passive...thought she would be breaming with confidence after winning AO16....if she was playing Serena she woud be playing out of her mind.
