I thought Vika will do well in at least one of IW/M. But, she goes out in 3rd round in both.
What happened to the good old WTA days, when a girl comes after 2 years giving birth to a child
and then immediately goes on to win a trophy at a big event? :devil

I like Bellis, but she got beat like a drum against Diyas in the USO. Now they are talking her up like she has a chance against Serena. I'm sorry, but if the Romanian slicer couldn't expel Serena in two consecutive tries, I don't think a 15 yr old upstart will do it. :nono

Well I don't think she needs to beat her to a pulp. What has Bellis done to her?

Wow talk about opposites with CiCi and Serena. CiCi wasn't even born when Serena turned pro.

Fun fact: CiCi grew up about an hour from me in Atherton, which is pretty much the richest city in Northern California, it's where the Silicon Valley billionaires have their mansions.

Hope she does well in the future, seems to have a lot of support.:)

Exactly. I don't think anyone here wants to break the spirit of a 15 year old do we?:puzzled

This is some good big match experience for CiCi and should help prep her for future matches...lots of tape to watch when she gets home.

Why can't she like Clijsters? Maybe her game mirrors Kim's. Not everybody can grow up and play like Serena. Most people won't have the necessary skills and talent to play like a Serena.

I feel the hype is a bit too much for such a young player...remember what hype did to Oudin:cryand the other day when Madison cried...thats what hype and burden of expectation does to youngsters:popcornlet a player unfold on her own..

Regarding CiCi: I am glad for the WTA age limitations. Let this young lady take her time to develop emotionally, mentally and physically to play smart tennis against the women of the WTA. At the tender age of 15, she aced Serena Williams and took 2 games off her. Can any other 15 year old lay claim to that?

Regarding Vika: Relax, get physically and match fit and your game will come. The rest of the WTA moved forwards while you were out but you will find your game once again.

Regarding Pennetta: Let's hear it for another "senior" on the tour. She is a true fighter and knows how to work with the talent she has been given to get great results.

Regarding Sloane: Nice to see her back in the mix. She seems more mature and focused. With the media focused on Madison, she has been able to just go about playing her tennis.

Regarding Madison: Don't become another Sloane; (is this a fair statement)?

How many times are you going to try and have a reasonable discussion with Tossip? In their world Serena is at the same time the ultimate champion and ultimate victim. Everything comes down the that. I mean a few posts ago they claimed they didn't want Bellis making her name off Serena... What does that even mean? In what world does that make sense?

I hope Sloane really is back. Bouchard needs to take a lesson from Sloane and go back to the drawing board. She needs to stop putting so much emphasis on doing well at slams and learn to live up to your ranking at smaller events. If you're top 8 and never making QFs outside slams you have a problem.

I actually think your statement about Madison is unfair to Sloane in the sense that Madison has 1 good result to her name (perhaps her results in Eastbourne last year also although thats a tiny 250). At least put together a good full year of slam results.
