Sorry for having to work at work...
Delpo was a bit rusty on the serve, pretty solid on the forehand as he hit a bunch of screamers, no volleys to speak of since he is allergic to mesh, but the biggest thing is, after the first couple of games, he did not hit a double fisted backhand if he could help it. All slices. Pretty good slices too, but no power from that side whatsoever. His footwork was OK, and it had to be since he ran around the backhand every chance he got.
He has to hit through the pain I think. Today he said something like " If I have to learn a different backhand to keep playing, I will do it." after the match. I do not know what that means. Does he think the double hander is just not going to happen anymore? Who knows, but he did not hit it today.
