Rafa's just trying to keep the ball in right now. Not sure that's going to be enough today if Nando keeps up this level of confidence

The wind is messing with both guys but Rafa is having an especially hard time trying to deal with it. Another huge shank there. Feels like a matter of time before Verdasco seizes the initiative in this set...

Verdasco gets broken, complete self destruction.

Everytime he tried to change the direction of the ball, he either hits it out or finds the net.

This may end up as another one of those "could have would have" matches.

They also mentioned that average forehand topspin shot speed is 82 mph for Sauce and only 74 for Rafa

Not so fast. Fernando has found the aggression that he had in the first set, and breaks for 3-1.

Great job by Verdasco. Brave tennis. Rafa really was not sharp, except in the 2nd. Disappointing performance by him.

After Verdasco lost the second set, and that too primarily by self destruction, I gave up on him
and stopped watching the match. Came back in time, just to see the last couple of games.

Well done Verdasco, got a lot of time for him.

Nadal really is hopeless at the moment. His backhand looks better than his forehand, he's got no confidence and going into the clay court swing he hasn't had a good tournament in 9 months.

Considering that Federer (2013) and Murray (2014) each dropped to the lower reaches of the Top 10 in years where they were still generally able to beat most players but couldn't compete reliably against other players in the top ranking spots, what will happen to Rafa if this is his blip/post-surgery year where he seems somewhat likely to lose to anyone in the top 30.

Berdych escapes two match points and they are back on serve in the 2nd? Can he get to a third set? Tomic choking?
