The dopey thing is that Margaret says her 2nd fav is Djokovic, meaning that @Bonaca, you are picking the wings off of one of your few allies here, partisan-wise.

Indeed.I have met his coach in Rome and Paris,I am a big Novak fan, though I can see his weakness's as well,he is a great player and has worked hard over the years to be the player he is today.

I have my opinions as to Novak's weaknesses, but I'd be interested to hear yours.

I have to get dinner and go to work,I will answer that tomorrow.May I say quickly he does tend to lose concentration at times, also gets bothered with crowds,I think we saw that at the AO this year, his first set against Theim was just a clinic, then he got upset with the Umpire,he should have let it go,but did not,he let Theim back into the match as far as I was concerned.Off to dinner then work,

I'll be interested when you have more to add, but I would say that it's on train with what I think. Have a good day!

Wow, this has devolved, huh? Now, as to Nadal's BH, I think you're completely wrong, Bonaca. Yes, of the 3, Djokovic has the great BH. Nadal's is a real weapon, because of the two-hander, and that he has a dominant right. Federer's has been a pickable weakness, that Nadal has exploited over the years. He's improved it in the last couple of years, taking the ball earlier, but to say it's better than Nadal's is, at the very least, an incomplete answer.
Agree. The Troll said Nadals BH is far better than Rogers. I think no, Roger improved his BH, I watched the AO F 2017 a few days ago, and Roger BH was more of a weapon than Nadals.
It was a huge weakness before his improvements. I can accept they were equal but not that Nadals is far better.

I never said Bully only today and yes some of your posts regarding the medical field were ignorant and uneducated in my view.Yes you have been very condesending towards me,what kind of response do you expect from me,just to sit back and accept this type of response? keep attacking me with very personal remarks, that is unacceptable full stop..
Yes Bully only today.
And again, in your view my post show you I am uneducated, and in my view this is very condesending from you. AFTER that I did not see the need to be nice with you.
And also talking about respect, who the fuck you think you are? To call someone uneducated and also idiot Is not respectful. And you want respect after that? Jesus what bullshit.

What respect you have?? You think it’s ok what you wrote?
You will always get the same response after such behaviour.

That’s not the issue moxie.
Few weeks ago she dont like my post about some medical stuff, called me uneducated, ignorant and idiot. Also Mile.
She don’t have to agree or like me, but how can she talk about condesending and respect after what she wrote by herself??
Before that I did not wrote one single bad word about her, after that i changed that.
Where is the condesending stuff she was talking about BEFORE her insults? What is she talking about?

Right, but when you're deep in the mud, and someone comes after you for what you say, don't act like you're not already covered in shit.
What would you answer to this “someone”?
She is no Virgin Mary but riding on a high horse.

Gads, are we going down yet again the rabbit hole of what makes a great champion?

IMO, Talent, Hard Work & Mental toughness. You need a mix of all three and a certain physical requirement. If someone wants to add 1 or 2 more ingredients into it that’s fine.

Trying to split out who has more or less of each ingredient is useless and irrelevant. It's the blend of all three in any individual that make it click uniquely.

The most talented doesn't automatically win. Neither the hardest working by itself. A mentally tough player who doesn't possess the skill set is not going to cut it either. (David Ferrer or say Diego Schwartzman for a more recent case)

Since you need all three, I find puzzling that people try to parse it out, as if to say X is the most talented, or it’s just because Y is the hardest working. I’m sorry but it doesn’t work out that way. It’s not the way it works in competitive sports, any sport. Michael Jordan, Tom Brady and Jerry Rice had incredible talent but they worked insanely hard and thrived on the pressure while other talented players faltered.

As to a player’s style or aesthetic appeal, that’s just your personal taste. You might as well argue that Thai cuisine is superior to Indian or Mexican.

Just finished watching the replay of Nadal d. Coria Rome 2005 final. I realize now that I'd never watched more than highlights before. What a brutal match! I was definitely questioning my memory of who won that match when Coria was up 3-0 in the 5th, a double-break. Nadal had had the far harder SF v. Ferrer the day before, and the commentators kept saying how tired he looked, from the 3rd set on. And he did. (I won't expect that folks like @Bonaca or @Front242 would have been watching, they should take note that Nadal does get tired, even when he was 19. He won this one on talent, but also cussedness, and Coria errors, too.) No wonder Coria got spooked and developed the yips. He would surely have thought he should have won the 2004 RG, and this match, as well. No doubt he regretted this loss.

Nadal v. Federer Italian Open final at 5pm EDT on TC tomorrow, if anyone is interested. It's another great match.

Hi Moxie, one question:

That seems somehow a leading question. I'm not sure i understand it. No one knows how tired, or not, the player feels except the player. But if they had a rough match the day before, and they play like they're a bit tired, it seems a reasonable presumption on the part of the commentators. If they hang in by dint of will, that's up to the player. My point is that all players get fatigued, physically and mentally. Whether they overcome it, on the day, and put it aside for the sake of a final, that's another thing.

What was your point to write I should have noticed that Nadal was tired in that match with 19 ?
I believe his unhuman endurance Reached his peak later, for whatever reason, not with 19.

The only person I’ve never seen look tired, be tired, think of being tired, know what the word tired means, is Roger Federer.
