Murray just said: 'It's always a pleasure to play in front of royalty.'

Well, I'll just add that to the washlist of reasons not to like the guy.

Wait, why?

ya whats wrong with that!?

If you dislike athletes for brown-nosing all the appropriate people during an acceptance speech you'll struggle to support anyone.

I would like to see you stand up in that sort of situation and come up with sensible stuff. He just said what ever sweet polite sap he could come up with. There's nothing more to it. The guy voted for Scottish independence, most probably got republican preferences. This was not a statement

I doubt that. The SNP party actually wants to maintain the monarchy I believe.

Is it OK to dislike Novak for being wanting to come off like an orthodox figure then?

Lol! :lolz: Don't kid yourself! They are a bunch of lefties that don't believe in the monarchy. They're smart enough to know that Unionist Scots are very keen to keep the monarchy so they keep quite about it

With the way Novak and Andy are playing, maybe Rafa is considering marriage.

I like that idea, and Xisca is a lovely and quality gal.

Sure. I'm not opposed to religion.

I'm a Republican too... probably a bit to the right of that. I still don't see why you would come down on Andy for what he said. Novak schmoozes all the time. He's just better at it because he's won more.

Unfortunately, we don't have too many Murray fans around here, so I'm also happy for Tennisfanatic7.

I wonder what's the odds for Paris now? Andy is positioning himself nicely.

I'm not too discouraged or downhearted. The cliche goes, it was a bad day at the office. Last year's Madrid final was similarly poor until Samurai went lame. Lots of work ahead for Rafa, but he's good at that part. But this is a great breakthrough for Murray. When did he last win an MS title? Before his operation, I think. So far this season, Denis is spot on: Andy is the main contender in the rankings with Nole. Finally the rivaly between them might ignite - though Andy needs a few wins against Nole again to make it happen. Hasn't beaten him, either, since before the operation...

I will only say this much, since I am tired of regurgitating the same stuff about Rafael. Today, his backhand looked like he was 12 years old and still hasn't grown enough in strength so he can't really bash it. The forehand misfired pretty much the entire match. If there was ever a time to be worried it is now.
Sure he still moves well, but even I can run after every shot, and get some in, that's not the point. He hasn't for a moment produced the kind of tennis that would win him anything big on clay. I don't even want to talk about the rest of the season...

Yeah, like Andy or not (I do, although not a "Murray fan"), any player could have said that sort of generic compliment.

Nole 10/11
Rafa 11/4
Andy 9/1
Kei 18/1
RF 30/1

Predictably, today's result has seen Nole and Andy move towards being more favoured with Rafa and everyone else being perceived as less likely to succeed.
