I co-sign with GSM, Nadal is actually moving relatively well. That's why I'm not panicking. I noted at the beginning, after two games that he was struggling with his range, and that was pretty much the story of the match. I didn't think it was a lack of aggression. He actually tried to dictate and wasn't passive. He just wasn't feeling the ball at all.

Hard to find positives in a performance like that, but as long as he's moving well, I still think he's better than 99% of the players on clay.

Pleasant surprise. One thing to win the Mickey Mouse tourney last week, whole different animal winning an MS on clay and destroying Nadal in the final. Never figured Murray would win an MS on clay, congrats to him

That wasn't a mickey mouse. He won a BMW!

Wow, really don't know what to say. It's weird seeing someone that has been so invinceble on this surface for the past 10 years look so pedestrian. That forehand on matchpoint was symbolic of his state of play at the moment.

Congrats to Murray's fans here. Big win for him. Seems like he will be Novak's challenger this season.

Novak's challenger? Nadal is the champion.

Or were you thinking about Rome?

this season. 2015.

Commentator on TC just said this would equal Rafa's worst ever result on clay if it ends 6-3, 6-2.

(Now watch the Djokovic fans "like" this post. ;) )

:clap:celeb:

 :dodgy: :ras:

I figured someone would be tacky enough to celebrate it, but I didn't think it would be Nehmeth. :nono

Ah, the full season, not a specific tourney. That stuff is small change. Who's Rafa's challenger for #7 in the world? :p

I think Rafa's issues look mental at this point. It could take one point, or one match to ignite him. Then again he might not get his grove back this clay season. Hard to tell

:lolz: Seriously! I am sure he is a lot happier about winning that car than he is about to be handed the nasty trophy here.

His level yesterday was solid. A set back today maybe, but he is by no means starting from scratch.

I think only Carol35 and posters like autopilot would argue such a thing.

I think the more relevant question is what his chances are at RG taking all this into account. Is it really only Novak that will be have a decent chance against him at this point?

Relax, you are not doing better than me with your fav. Muzz is playing really well, so well that I wouldn't be surprised if he plays so well in Rome he would beat your dear Novak.
And remember something, things changes day by day, tournament by tournament. Rafa played worse last year on clay but at the end he won RG  :p :ras:

Not worse than he did today. This was legitimately his worst I've ever seen him play anywhere.

I agree, he has played awful, he is still "a lime and sand" but until when?

Who cares.

I think Murray will be Novak's biggest challenger this year. Like Nadal was for Djokovic in 2011, for instance.

Murray just said: 'It's always a pleasure to play in front of royalty.'

Well, I'll just add that to the washlist of reasons not to like the guy.

I get what you're saying, but leaving the AO blip aside, Rafa can always be solid against Berdych, so I'm not sure how much can be concluded from yesterday.
