Kohly plays a poor drop shot and Murray gets the early break. Get it done, Andy!

BTW, does anyone remember ever seeing Kohlschreiber smile?

In his player photo.

I don't buy it. That must have been Photoshopped. :nono

I think I counted three... and then duplicates of those.

I like the flowers in the Stadium but...where are the people? 2:30 am, why they are playing so late?

So much for my ally Carol on the notion that Spaniards stay up late. :dodgy:

But it looks that all of them went to sleep this time :snicker
Nope, seriously tomorrow is a work day and those times to stay up late are in the past, now they just the weekends are "having fun" :nono
I've just came back home and I see they are still playing, what is happening?

Been saying this since he finally took his lone title in '09! That was his real last chance even though he made another final in 2011! :eyepop :nono  :dodgy:

The sad thing is, he can't do anything about it. He can whine and say, I wasn't comfortable, I couldn't return his first serve (Jesus what an excuse), etc but he shouldn't be humiliating himself anymore. This old man we see on court now just isn't Roger Federer. This is some guy who has a horrendous backhand and has no idea what he is doing anymore. You can call it denial or whatever, but I can't watch this guy anymore. The number of errors he makes is somewhere around his first serve percentage... :nono

FYI, Federer had more winners than Nick in the match. Not only that Federer had more
differential (i.e., winners - ufe) in that match. So, it is not that he did not play well or anything.
He just could not win. He was not blown away or anything. After all the match went to three
sets, each set went to a tie-breaker and the final tie-breaker went to 14-12 and you are
acting out. Get real, there is a 13 year age difference here.

I already said I overreacted a bit in another post and I apologise. I was just disappointed he couldn't manage to grind it out, since there was only a few points between them. If he just came up with some random strategy that could have gifted him a few free points he would have won in straights. This is what frustrates me. So close, yet so far now.

What is the latest an ATP match ended then? I seem to remember Hewitt being a part of it...or was it Roddick? Ferrer? I have obviously no clue...

For Hewitt, you're probably remembering an AO match years ago, in which case it isn't technically ATP.

I don't know if this is the answer, but Rafa played a REALLY late match in Rio earlier this year.

I'll assume from your question that you haven't been watching today, in which case the answer is simply that almost every match has been VERY, VERY long.

I see, all the matches had to be too long but maybe it's better to play so late than to be forced to play twice in one day :puzzled

Unless it would be an 'hecatomb' it seems that Muzz is going to win the third set easy

Yes, I get that Spaniards do take work hours more seriously. But it was in part due to schedule. Those with tickets the the Pista Central had already been treated with Sharapova, Serena, Rafa and Roger. No wonder they'd run out of gas for late-night tennis.

I remember the Hewitt match now. It was against Baggy, ended like, 5 am or something...ATP, no clue...

So this one finished right at 3am local time. Good on Andy! I'll give the steak to whomever comes up with the answer to the trivia question.

Hope the schedule tomorrow works better than today. I don't mind to watch the matches at night (I can't do it earlier, too much work) but I don't want that for the players, it has to be tough for them :(

Rafa finished in Rio at 3:21am this year, but apparently there was a later one in Tokyo. Can anyone identify the match?

http://www.tennis-x.com/xblog/2015-02-21/18442.php

I found it: Tokyo 2006, Benjamin Becker v. Jiri Novak at 3:24 am.

Here's a fun list of some of the latest matches:
