Would be nice to see him play alright but is it wise? Not so sure. Not exactly match tough for that kind of intensity! Still has another month of recovery time yet though.
Why someone who has been off this long would decide to make their comeback at a best-of-five set tournament is beyond me.
I don't think he will play USO without playing in at least one of the two Masters as a
warm up to see how things go in real life matches.
If he does not play in both Masters, I have a strong feeling that he won't play USO.
However, if he plays in one or both of the Masters, it does not mean he will play USO.
He will play based on how it goes (not results wise, but being able to play at that level wise).
My guess is he will start with doubles in Toronto (and possibly singles also) and
then move up to singles in Cincy and then try USO.
One more thing to consider is that he will not be eligible for Protected Rankings
unless he is out of action for 6 months. To be specific, if he comes back on or
before USO, he won't be eligible for protected rankings (and he is slated to
lose 500 points he got from winning Washington DC).
If he misses USO, the rest of year does not have anything that is important
enough to come back without fully healing. So, in the event he misses USO,
he should come back only after getting healed 100%. He could even sit
out the rest of the year and come back at Doha (not Auckland please)
in 2015.
