I mean, credit to the men who are thrashing the brave elite, but isn't this more like a WTA event? And I can't slag it off any more than that...

I hate to say it, but it would have been better if Rafa was there.

Still enjoyed a couple of good matches, this afternoon was one for example.

I don't think we should blame the tournament or men's tennis in general, we've just had a series of embarrassing performances from all players other than Roger, Nole and Kei, but even he lost heavily to Federer.

Is this the most hyperbolic thread ever? Signs say......maybe.

Haha, "maybe!" ;)

But seriously, some of these blokes ought to be ashamed of the results they're turning in...

Factoid 1: Of the 10 matches played so far, only one went to three sets.

Factoid 2: Of the 21 sets played so far, 10 of them were either Bagel or Breadstick Sets.

Factoid 3: Only one went to tie breaker; however, even that TB ended up in a bagel.

Well, it is not over yet. And frankly I enjoyed the (few) pieces of live broadcast I could watch (mostly Djokovic x Wawrinka).

I would agree if the title of the thread was "Is THIS Year's WTF..."

There have been great WTFs. Not this one, that's for sure. But the final, if the expected one takes place, has the potential to be an epic, going by the forms of Nole and Roger.

and lets not forget kei the Japanese wonder.. his brand of tennis would be ideal for an interesting semi final epic.

like most folk I'd be wanting fedster-djokovic final. the tennis could be full of bliss and fluffy altocumulus clouds.

The Japanese Bonzoi also gets a day of rest. Good for the glass house body to get rest before SF.

I agree Murat, that's my fault, I'm only referring to this years tourney...

How many of this year's "elite 8" were killing themselves playing tournaments to qualify? Probably some burn out there.

While I enjoy the fact that Novak does pretty well here, I have never been a fan of this tournament or it's format.

This has been a rough one, but I don't think it's indicative of the WTF in general. One difference between this and the WTA, is the top players here have consistently played top tennis. Kei has been very entertaining, the other five guys have been mere punching bags...

I like the format. All good players and you get to see them a couple of times. We've had a couple of very good year end tourneys, but it's true that it is unfortunate people are killing themselves to get qualified. Also people like Berdy are just happy to be there, not play for the trophy. They need to fix that.

I like the format too. There are enough conventional bracket tournaments. This just adds a little spice to cap the year.

I like this tournament as well. Usually it is pretty competitive and fun for fans. They get to present all kinds of awards as well.:D

It's been awful so far but if there are great semis and/or a great final people will forget the round robin play quickly. I think a worse ad for men's tennis is seeing old videos of Mac running around in short shorts :)
