Despite losing Berdych is in the WTF. He cannot be caught, after all but Roger lost their opener.
3 more places up for grabs.

Since he's at the top of the list of the 5 remaining players who have a realistic chance of qualifying, I'm feeling very good about his chances.

Berdych just qualified with 3,800 points. Roger has 3,235 so he can't be too far from qualifying himself. Perhaps even getting to the final in Basel would be enough, but I don't know what the next official cutoff point is.

Reminds me of one of the greatest lines in cinematic history, when Snipes said "Can't.....Can't be caught".....and then jumped off a 12-story building (while swinging on a cable) and landed on a train.

Although admittedly you said "cannot" instead of "can't", so not quite the same.

Those were the days. Hopefully I'll get the opportunity to try that move one day.

I like the World Tour Finals, its a lot of fun to see so many high-profile match-ups in a short space of time. That is something that the slams don't have. However definitely not as interesting as a slam. Yet the WTF round-robinhood definitely keeps it relevant. Although if it wants to be as valuable as the Olympic Gold, it'll need to increase the final to best-of-5 sets for me.

according to the info on the race to London page at the 'atp world tour' site, if Federer wins basel he qualifies .

According to Live ATP race page, even if Fed wins Basel, he does not officially qualify.
He makes 3645 points if he wins Basel and he needs 3750 to qualify at this time.

Jesus, Even though you meant it rhetorically, you are actually correct.
As the ATP website says, Fed will indeed qualify if he wins Basel.

This is because with 3 spots open, the current standing is

1. Roger Federer SUI 3235 (will be 3645 with Basel win)

2. Stanislas Wawrinka SUI 3150

3. Richard Gasquet FRA 3120

4. Jo Wilfried Tsonga FRA 3055

Even if Roger gets 0 points in Paris, he is sure to qualify as only one of the
other three can get 1000 points in Paris and only one of the other three can get
600 points in Basel (even though two can get 360). Now, it is elementary arithmetic
to figure out that, no matter what happens in Paris, Fed will qualify if he wins
Basel. This is because, it is impossible for all three of the other contenders to surpass
Federer simultaneously.

So, ATP official website is indeed right.

Actually, usually ATP website is conservative and Live ATP race is
progressive and projects faster than ATP website. This time also it is
not lagging as we are talking about a hypothetical (even though possible)
situation of Roger winning Basel. ATP live race is based on pure reality, but
they tend to do the calculations and announce qualifications much faster
than ATP official web site.

It is already official that Federer will qualify due to the draw for Paris. Tsonga and Gasquet have been drawn together to meet in the 3rd round, meaning the most that the loser can get is 90 points, which will not be enough to pass Federer.

You heard it here, first! Haha.

Federer will qualify for London, almost 100% official

I already posted this in the "is federer safe"thread.

*Ok so it's not official, there is complex scenario where he would not qualify given by GameSetAndMath, but as that poster said, it would be highly unlikely. Sorry for jumping the gun!

Not so fast, when talking about theoretical possibilities. If Fed loses all his matches
from now on and Haas wins Paris, Wawrinka makes QF and one of Tsonga/Gasquet makes
SF, then Fed will not qualify. I know this scenario is extremely unlikely, but good enough
to say it is not official yet.

Haas winning Paris?? Ok, you are right that its not official, but it might as well be. His potential path is Federer, Del Potro, Djokovic, Nadal.lol!

I already disproved your claim. See other thread.

I saw your comment, You are right, not official, but about as close as it can be. Haas is not winning Paris. His potential path is Federer, Del Potro, Djokovic, Nadal. lol!
