After I took a little nap..........Seeds galore were defeated in their matches,

Kenin (4),Williams (8),Kvitova (11) Osaka (2)................shown the door.

Not surprised with these results quite frankly, there are still smaller clay tournaments before RG if these players need to find their clay feet.

Oh no, defending champion Simona Halep (3) forced to retire in her match against Kerber 61 33
Halep grabbing her left calf as the physio applies treatment.Hopefully this injury won't be major,as her favorite tournament RG is looming.Halep has had Achilles problems before hopefully it is not another Achilles injury.

Darren Cahill.Simona Halep's coach, said Simona popped her left calf muscle. That could mean she could miss RG this year.

Just an update on Halep's injury, she will get a MRI tomorrow on her left calf to understand the injury in more detail, but at the moment unsure of recovery time.

BTW Jen Brady (13) withdrew no reason given,so E.Alexandrova gets a walkover to the next round.

Serena was positive in her presser but she is still a bit delusional if she thinks that she needs to decide with a coach about playing additional tournaments prior to RG..she needs to change her non match day practice partners..She needs grab some of the tournament.participants for practicing and take a wild card to any tournament she can.

Smart move..next she needs to go hit with SST or Sakkari..she needs a human backboard who would make her work and construct a lot of points.
After Coco dismantling Sakkari earlier maybe she needs extra practice on clay which is her fav surface by the way,she is not on the entry list for Parma at present, though could recieve a WC if she wanted to play.

Just saw the scores and Zvonareva beat Kvitova. Nice. Always liked Zvonereva and guess that must be her biggest win since her comeback ? Don't watch much WTA these days so I'm only guessing without checking Google. Either way, good win for her.
Yep I have always been a fan of Bepa and yes it is her biggest win since her comeback.

Nice to see her name written po Russki. To anyone who can't read cyrillic or "crazy Russian" as some call it when written in English alphabet they'd think you were calling her Beppa, like Peppa (Pig) :face-with-tears-of-joy: My wife's Russian though so I know it's right :D :thumbs-up:

I hope they have plenty of towels on court when she plays lol!
I keep forgetting about her until she makes a grand entrance with an upset! I never understood this girl and her ranking! She made a couple major finals and got to #2 in the world and I thought it was a joke! Lucky I wasn't paying much attention to the ladies' game around that time so I can't even describe her play!

She was very good back then but a bad shoulder injury hampered her for a long time. Then she got married, had a kid and came back. She's 36 now (37 in September) and Kvitova is still highly ranked and only 31 so it's a good win.

Miss Drama Z was a fantastic ball striker. She is still a grinder whom just doesn't have a big weapon.

Well I know she was in that Graf mold of a "big forehand" and bashing the ball for the most part! I seem to remember her nerves probably kept her from winning that big match when she had a chance!
Yup. She used to cry a lot when playing badly and get very nervous.
