Thiem stunned by Verdasco. Fernando delivered an upset this time. Is there a guy on tour who talks more beetween points? Fernadno barely keeps his mouth shut It's a pity he never reached his full potential, but is still dangerous floater even at 35.
Good win by Fernando.

Everybody rushing today knowing that they will have to play a 2nd match. Nadal, Fed, Novak and Tsitsipas all had quick wins.

I woke up in time to see him walking off the court gesticulating at the crowd! I guess he got upset with the fans cheering for his opponent and "went off!" He got a warning I guess, argued more with the ump., and got a point penalty or 2 that really set him off! He's having to live with that article beating up on Verdasco, Nole, & Rafa! He has something he dislikes about them all for some strange reason and had to inform the world! Every time I think he's going to make me proud with his talent, Dr. Jeckle, turns into Mr. Hyde! :nono:  :banghead: :cuckoo:

Complete craziness! According to my Croatian tennis blogger, Nick was down a break in the middle of the 2nd set, he starts playing better and breaks back, even runs and celebrates points, whole crowd was cheering. He leads 1:0 in the 3rd set and has a break he goes mad at someone from the crowd, looses 2 games and goes ballistic from that point, starts throwing chairs and bottles until chairman disqualifies him. He then collects his stuff and leaves the court.

Thanks. Nothing new it seems.

Verdasco out here turning into an ironman. First set over Khachanov, 7-5. After a 3 setter against Thiem.

Schwartzman brings Berrettini's run to an end even though Berrettini didn't have to play today and Schwartzman did.

Casper Ruud benefiting from Kyrgios' physical fragility. He'll have to play Del Potro now though.

Wild day.

Berrettini is out (lost to Schwartzman 6-3, 604). @kskate2 will be upset.
 How could tall, dark and rugged lose to Shortman? o_O
Looks like Fabio is the last one standing to carry the Italian flag at home. Cecchinato lost too.

I see Fabio completes win over Albot! Very classy of the Italian crowd to "BOO" the guy off the court just because they want to support their own! I love the tourney and respect it's history except for those animals in the crowd! I can still remember them throwing coins on the court back in '78 when Borg was playing against Adriano Panatta! AP should have taken to the 'mic' to admonish them, but as always, players take whatever support they can get to carry them over the finish line! Lucky for me Borg overcame all of it, picked up the coins to hand to ump, then completed his "Old World Triple" the next month by taking his 3rd Wimbl. title!  :yesyes:  :ptennis:

I was thinking that that's gotta be a lot of heavy hitting for one day. And now they're going 3 in that match. Fernando's left arm must feel like it's about to fall off.

Roger's showing his age! Mon Dieu he looks bad against Coric! He's just floundering a little with mishits and other UFE's! Two matches in one day may be a big ask at this time in his career; esp. on clay in a Masters event! :nono:  :banghead: :cuckoo:   :ptennis:
