It was fairly predictable that he'd have had enough of Rome. He'll have done enough to leave it there...proved he can win 2 matches in a day if he wants to and even show up young Coric. He'll play RG and then he'll quit playing on clay.
This is Fed's goodbye to clay I'm pretty sure. Did what he needed to and regardless of what happens in Paris he's far more match ready and prepared for the grass. The crowd support was awesome for him.

As I said, you read one incident, and then you go on a ranty forum, and you think you have the force of multitudes behind your opinion. I'm sorry, but you're a bit delusional. You can weave one towel incident into a complete character assassination. You do the same with doping assertions. You honestly think that the rest of us follow all of this crap around. Ice-bath-gate. WTF? If you wouldn't bring them up, I'd have no idea. They are tempests in teapots and you try to draw them out into full controversies. You're forcing the issue too much with all of these axes you seem to have to grind.

It is rather cute that you cop to liking Tommy Robredo, though. I'd have taken you more for the Feli Lopez (S&V, one hand bh) or Almagro type.
I agree with a lot of Front had to say about Verdasco. Never liked the guy and his on court demeanor tactics and yes verbal abuse of ball kids is there. As for Kygrios the guy is nuts. His assessments of these guys aren't necessarily wrong just because he's nuts

You and Front are entitled to your opinions about players. My objection to Front is he posits it not as his opinion, but as what "all of the players" think, which is untrue or unsubstantiated.

if it's serious I'll actually laugh! I hope it ends his fkg career. Yet again taking his eye off the prize. Last time Canada, now this red sh1t. I'll absolutely fume if this jeopardises Wimbledon. What an absolute twat...:nono::banghead:

My guess is the 2 matches in 1 day yesterday was a bit much and he's not physically in good enough shape to beat Tsitsipas let alone Nadal if he managed to get past Tsitsipas and doesn't want to muck up the h2h with either by playing not fully fit and losing.

Just precautionary but he's definitely playing RG and this "injury" is likely just muscular stiffness and fatigue but enough reason to not play anymore in Rome.

He's welcome to go drink some sangria and munch on churros with his Spanish buddies on tour and when did I say all of the players think anything about him?

You can find plenty of fans, however, who don't think much of him.

OMG, Fed did it again! Killed himself to win a match, only to WD or default the next Rd! What an a-hole! I really don't GAF is his excuse!

And yet Federer the terrible has never once retired mid match in 1465 matches. Might want to look up how many times Djokovic has. Bring Kleenex. It's not pretty.

I read Thiem was blaming the organizers for his loss yesterday, stating he was "exhausted" after being kept around the whole day on Wednesday. According to him, they should have called the cancellation a lot earlier.
I find it ridiculous 25y old guy getting exhausted, while the guy who best him is 35 and he had to deal with the same treatment.
Strange to hear this from the guy who is a definition of overplaying and looks to me fit to play 6 hours straight. I think he is just disappointed with the loss and blaming the rest instead of himself.

Fed on clay is the only time I root for his opponents. I want him off the court as quickly as possible so he doesn’t get injured or worn out. I hope he’ll rejoin the tour after FO. This is his last chance at Wimby.

Yet, this tells me that not just is this his final chance at Wimbledon but also that he isn't likely to take it. Two matches in a row in one day is about the about the same as a five setter. Neither of his opponents was top 10. Fed's first serve % has been disappointing even in his victories. So no easy points.

I'm sorry but this is just wrong. One five set match is nothing like two 3 setters against entirely different opponents. No where close. This is evidence of nothing more than scheduling stupidity

I know, giving it his all to win a match...oh, the nerve! Who does he think he is?!?!?! What a complete and utter jerk!!!!:ptennis::rip::cool:

I'm glad you agree! lol! I'm just still PO'd over that YEC SF a few yrs ago he had w/ Stan who also had MP's, got into a tête-à-tête w/ Mirka, lost it, then had to hear Fed default to Nole the next day w/ apologies! I'm surprised they got together to win the DC the following wk!

Well he took so long to win b/c he was playing abysmally; shanks, mishits, & outright bad shot selection! He gave away the 1st set!

His record speaks for itself: 1465 matches. 4 walkover losses. 0 retirements.

I am hoping that Fed's "injury" is minor and is basically getting out of Rome as a precautionary measure (which, if true, would be a wise decision).

He probably would have continued if he had to play only one match per day.
