Correct. Rafa lost in Madrid the same round where he lost in Rome last year. If he wins Rome, he defends all of the point up to RG and goes back to 100 points over Roger, then has to defend RG.

Novak wins in straight sets. He could drop out io the top 30 if he is not progressing a lot further

They say even if he doesn't win his next match and it is against Baldi or Basilashvilli, so I'd say he'd win, he may only fall to #34, but because Federer is not playing RG, it is enough for another seeded player to withdraw for Novak to be among the seeds.

Did you see the match? Was Dologopolov really bad or Nole good?
