And Delpo is playing.. what is he thinking smh

That guy clearly hasn't a whole lot of grey matter. He's likely thinking if I stay off a long time to heal my wrist I'll lose a ton of points and these next 2 events give the opportunity to earn a lot of points. By playing and getting a miserable few points he'll only damage his healing more in the long term. To be honest I don't think he'll ever be like he was before the wrist injuries to both wrists. It's a shame but playing on as he's doing now is dense and yet it's also catch 22, 'cos this sort of pain will likely only come back the minute he has a taxing match no matter how long he takes off playing.

And if he continues playing through pain like this he can't possibly expect to beat the top guys since having the pain in his left wrist means he's relegated to slicing and weak backhands with no chance of executing DTL backhands. Without that shot he hasn't a prayer against the elite players.

Quick reminder. He got to the final last year hitting 90% slice backhands. I watched him routine Davy in straights last year hitting around two or three double handers the entire match. The man has guile to go along with his brute power.

There is a big difference. At that time his opponents were not knowing that (slicing
on the backhand side) was his only option. Now, everybody knows. So, he cannot
find his way to finals.

While I am not his doctor, he would be better off not playing if doing so would
hurt him in the long run.

I think he is frustrated beyond belief because he has taken rest periods, and seen doctors, and done the rehab with no results.

Which is a total rerun of what happened to him in '09-'10. He couldn't play through it last time, so I don't see why he thinks he'll play through it this time. :s

I can't wait until IW starts :) Sorry it has been so long since I have been here! But shortly after I started posting here I had some business I had to take care of by the time I was finished I had forgotten the name of the Forum :cover (I had forgotten to save the site to my favorites) Then there was the issue of the password so it has been slow getting back!

I agree with what you are saying about Juan. It sounds like to me all he can do is surgery again :(

If Federer can manage to stay clear from Nadal, he could win this thing.

Just read on twitter, Roger gets Stan in QF, if he wins, the winner of Nadal-Murray.

Federer/Stan SF should be awesome. Stan looks up so much to Federer, so I wouldn't be surprised if Fed gets up on top.

And it's about time we get to see Nadal/Murray, providing both guys win their respective matches... As another poster said, it's been way too long.

There is no certainty that the projected quarters will happen. To be seen.

That's right, Shawn, Dimi is going to be an interesting figure at this MS event. "Happy for that" - as Rafa would say - when he won a 500, but there'll be a small target on his back in IW. I don't expect his progress to be seamless, however, and an early defeat might put manners on him...

In R3, he is most likely meet Gulbis again and the outcome could be very uncertain. Ernie was tired in Acapulco because he played too much, here the situation might be more even.
Really looking forward to see what happens there.

Yeah Gulbis looked very tired in Acapulco. Hoping he comes in rested and ready for action here. Davai Ernie!

Roger looked good in Dubai and had great results but I am afraid what he did there is not going to be sustainable. He cannot wait till second and third sets of matches to step in the court and attack. He can't keep coming back in matches all the time. Healthy back or not, he is not getting any younger and his laps of concentration will cost him winnable matches if he does not start sharp from get go.
He should be super focused and not lose a set till quarters at IW and save his energy as best as he can. Recovery time at his age is a lot different than when he was 21.

^ Yup. Gotta show that killer instinct and be aggressive from the start. His UFE count was a lot lower than usual in Dubai as well which was very promising. Seems to be really getting used to the new racquet.

Another factor is Edberg. How many times did Roger come to the net in the Djokovic match? 723?

So, yeah, shiny new racquet, low UFE count, new multiple-GS winning coach -- things are definitely looking better for him these days.

If that match-up materializes, it will be a QF and not SF.

I predicted Roger n Stan as soon as Roger announced his DC plans.
Now, they will do it in IW, but not in Miami. This would be to get
practice for DC QFs.

Similarly, expect them to play doubles in Canada Masters, but not
in Cincy. This would be to get practice for DC SFs.

Peter Polansky from Canada just qualified into the main draw! Good job by Peter.
