Did they spend that whole time questioning the advisability of the choice? That's what I meant... they keep coming back to wondering why Novak did it and whether it was a good idea. I bet most of the comments re: Edberg were positive.

No, you're right. They mostly glowed over it, as they do with most things Fed. You'll admit that Becker for Djokovic has been the most controversial coaching match-up of the season, though. Even as to why he decided to make a change in Dec. However, there's no reason to be less than optimistic about it, in commentary. They should balance with positives, because…why not? Who knows how this partnership will go? It's more than a bit of bias, I'll give you that, for sure.
Good win for Novak, when pushed, btw!

Aw! We are deeply tennis nerds, those of us who know the umpires, but Layhani is the best, IMO. I'd swoon if I saw him in person. Sweet!

I agree about Layhani and CarilloLuxilon Borg said:nehmeth said:Carillo and Courier have spent the last 10 minutes describing their thoughts regarding the Becker/Djokovic pairing. It seems everyone considers it to be the odd couple.
Thank god I was watching tennis live the last 3 days. I just can't hack Carillo's cackle. nono
ESPN dumped her and so should TC.

Today I was VERY impressed with-
Gulbis.
He was just Bone Crushing the ball off the backhand, and even the funky forehand. First serve was an absolute bomb, I don't think I saw a first serve under 135 mph. Sick performance today against Sousa.
Robredo.
Scraped by 6-4 in the third against Marinko. What a crafty veteran. The accuracy on the forehand is simply dazzling.
Domicmic Thiem.
What a powerhouse this guy is. He was just murdering the ball. His one handed is sick. I do wonder if he is one dimensional. There was very little subtlety. However hard to determine from one match. He dropped the hammer on Simon says on ct 5.
Lu.
This player was in the zone like you could not believe for an hour and 20 minutes. Kohlshreiber had no idea what hit him. Lu was a bulldozer.

I read Gilbis had a 100% conversion on his first serves. Too bad he is set to meet Grigor next, I would have liked them both being able to go deeper in this event, as they both are in form.

If that match lives up to its potential...WOW. Gulbis will be looking to avenge his defeat from a few weeks back. He was in control of that match...

If it's anything like their last meeting, I will erase the DVR without watching. I like Grigor, but I would also like to see Gulbis make good on his desire to rise in the rankings. Hopefully they will have a quality match.
