Kobe Bryant is still a superstar? He's still a draw, sure. But a superstar? Let me ask you this A-P: If you take out Klay Thompson from GSW and put Kobe instead, are they a better team?
Spoiler: They're really, REALLY not.
Another example: Yeah, I know the Cavaliers are struggling now but most still expect them to come good and reach the Eastern Conference finals. If you take out Lebron and put Kobe on that team, are they a championship contender? Do they even have the chance to become a championship contender?
How can you be a superstar if, even with the right pieces around you, you can no longer be expected to make your team a championship contender?
Kobe is the best out of a terrible bunch right now. His team stinks, and he's still a good player who can shoot in volume and score (though his FG percentage has ranged from OK to horrendous), and at his age, that's understandable. But no, he's no longer a superstar as far as playing abilities go, and I don't have any sympathy for him. He wants to get paid, I can respect that, but then, you deal with the consequences of your team not being able to get anyone good to play with you.
