It was expected, the Knicks and the Lakers should have been merged into one team so they can almost have one legitimate starting lineup, otherwise they are both gonna be very bad and miss the playoffs . As for the Bulls, it's just too soon to set expectations but I like their bench and Pau will help open up the floor for Dross and Noah can go back to his natural position the defensive 4 spot

^ No kidding AP, even then the team would still suck IMO. Carmelo going to LA would never work with Kobe there. Kobe will suffer through a 20-62 season or thereabouts but he will score his 30 on 25 shots because there is literally nothing else on that team.

Poor Bucks fell just short against Jordan's squad. Hoping to catch the game Friday, might go to it even.

Anyone who thinks that Phil Jackson is some kind of other-worldly basketball mind has no idea what they are talking about. What he has done to the Knicks team is completely neuter them and frankly downgrade the roster. He clearly misinterpreted their problems last season.

The issue with the team last year was, more than anything else, poor choice of personnel groupings by Woodson and then poor defensive strategy. The issue was not their offense. They scored just fine. At the end of the year, Woodson finally started JR, Melo, and Amare together, and it was a huge success. They won 8 straight and finished 17-5.

Somehow, Jackson thought that the Knicks' poor record had to do with offense? What the hell was he watching?

And then his idea of improving the roster was to get Jason Smith and Quincy Acy?

Not to mention Phil's stupid love affair with Shumpert. For some silly reasons, "Phil" loves Shumpert and the result of that was a bunch of airballs and hopeless floater attempts yesterday.

Why couldn't Kobe and Carmelo play together? Care to explain that one?

Because they both need to dominate the ball to be effective. They wouldn't play well off of each other and they would likely clash over who would be the top dog on the team. It'd be a terrible fit.

Or they could alternate the responsibility of being the #1 option.

People said the same thing about Carmelo and Iverson, and they both averaged 25.

People said the same thing about LeBron and Wade, and they did just fine for the most part.

I dont know about that .. Can you imagine if Kobe is doubleteamed or vice versa with Melo.. these guys could really compliment each other.. Shaq and kobe worked out and Shaq was the greatest basketbal magician Ever, when someone threw the ball down low to the Daddy, he would make the ball disappear because it wasnt coming back out..:snigger

Kobe and Carmelo are very good friends and they respect each other's games. They wouldn't have a problem with the other taking shots.

Come on let's not compare Melo/ geriatric Kobe to a Lebron/Wade and Shaq/young Kobe duo. Shaq was the beast down low that naturally was helped out by Kobe breaking down the defense in his younger, more athletic days. And any wing player would be helped with all the attention Shaq commanded. Lebron is basically a team's point guard, shooting guard, small forward and power forward all rolled into one. I think anyone can play off that guy.

Melo and Kobe are guys who have never seen a shot they didn't like. Kobe at this stage is basically just a one on one jump shooter. As in he isn't going to be running off 100 screens to get open like Allen and Miller, you have to give him the ball in the post or out top and have him create something. Still skilled enough to create decent looks for himself but that's it. Melo has always just been a pure scorer. I like him, love his game but he hasn't ever been a great all around player. They wouldn't make each other better, especially at this stage. And though they are friends right now as Cali mentioned that could have changed pretty quick.

Oh no doubt Kobe and Melo would both average 25 but would the team be any better for it? The Nuggets didn't exactly light it up with Melo and the Answer jacking up 100 shots between 'em.

Come on Darth.. Kobe isnt geriatric.. He is still quite capable of dropping 30-40 points if needed.. True the younger Kobe was more explosive but this version is more of a strategic player..

Yes but with his loss of athleticism he is more one dimensional and that's one of the reasons a partnership with Melo wouldn't work that well. Kobe will drop 30 plus often this year but it wil be on crappy shooting.

I cant win this debate with you.. the facts are that Kobe is older and will have to try to win differently than he has in the past.. Darth, the man has nothing around him. I put the blame on Kobe and Jim Buess because Kobe opted for the max in dollars while Buess has totally F# up this organization.. Like him or hate him, its a shame to waste Kobe's talent as this idiot tries gain a legitmate basketball mind

I'm not hating on Kobe really. With the current cast of clowns he has to hog the ball. But Kobe has an ego, a big, big ego and that has hurt the Lakers over the years. He forced shaq out of town when the big man still had a few good years left. I don't think him and melo could coexist well. Kobe would need a good point guard or big man, not a similar ball hog.

I don't see the Triangle working in NY. :nono In the last 24 hours, I've seen more bricks than at a masonry convention.

^ They beat the Cavs on a night Lebron proclaimed would be one of the biggest events in sporting history.

Someone should've informed him a lot more people, myself included, would tune into the average Thursday Night Football game. I know the guy has an ego but damn...

The other funny part of it was he had one of his worst games in many years. He probably psyched himself out a bit. Understandable but kind of the ultimate foot in mouth moment.

So with all the hoopla and his horrible game put aside, NY only won by 5 points.
