I would say Halle is going quite the opposite for him than Stuttgart where he was 3 set city. Everything in Halle has been pretty straightforward for him which was a bit lucky for him.

Or maybe he's getting better acclimated with the turf.

Federer looks much better today than against Jaziri. Still far from his (current) best form, but good enough to have a real shot at this tournament.

A bit of luck in the tie breaker, though.

Forehand looked considerably better. If he keeps improving at this pace he is not completely off the cards as most thought he already were.

I think a title win on the surface helps

It's never a good sign when Roger celebrates a 500 QF victory as if it's a slam SF.

Both Thiem and Kohli are overplaying. The only excuse Domi has that he is 10 years younger.

I don't want to see Dominic injured because od stupid scheduling.

Up until this year he wasn't regularly making it to the semis and finals. I am sure they will make adjustments for the rest of the year. :)
I am not convinced. I could see him back on clay post Wimbledon in a hurry.

Zverev beat Bagman

....... and with that win Zverev earned himself a seeded spot at Wimbledon. This is the first time ever that he will be seeded at a GS. :clap

:cover :s So basically, you're saying he's an idiot. He's one of the elite players now. If he has a good run at SW19 (and I mean the quarters), only to go back to play on clay when the hardcourt season is ahead?? :nono

Watching the highlights of Federer's match makes me sad. Damn, that's the most hampered I've seen his movement in quite some time. It was simply a case of shot making that won this one for him today, especially the beatdown first set but he's not gliding around the court anywhere like the Roger Federer before the knee surgery and dodgy back :nono Hopefully it's a work in progress but thing is, when he's playing a lot now for the rest of the season, it's hard to heal.

Thiem is not signed up for Nottingham. :clap

This is just the 4th week in the current year, Thiem is sitting out instead of playing in a tourney.
I am sure, this would help him to perform well (I mean at least to live up to his seeding) at Wimbledon. I believe he will make adjustments to his schedule to reflect his new found status.

I see what your saying, but have you seen the previous ones? It was so bad that sometimes he looked casual... I mean, like he did not even care to run after the ball. Against Goffin it was definitely an improvement. Let´s hope that by Wimbledon R4 is close to normal...

I say this with respect..maybe that's not a bad thing at this point. Any delusions that he may be holding on to that he can hang on with these kids and win with movement will hit the harsh wall of reality. At least, let's face it, his swan song at SW19, will befit Roger Federer, the player who was often referred to as an all time tennis great in spite of 5 years on the tour without a slam.

When the sun comes out and the adoring fans flock to Wimbledon I have no doubt that Rogers famed glide will be back in full force. Everything he does today and tomorrow and Sunday is all geared up for Wimbledon - I feel particularly bullish on him right now. Not necessarily as winner but I have no doubt he is going very deep and he is going to look good doing it.

I'll be interested to see whether Zverev has finally decided to step it up against the best or if he will wilt under the spotlight again.

He is still mostly definitely the GOAT and this current bad year due to injury doesn't erase all his past achievements. He could hang just fine with them till before this injury btw. This won't be his swan song at Wimbledon either. He's signed up for Stuttgart 2017 already so he'll be at Wimbledon next year at least and possibly 2018.

Yeah, little short steps and then he gives up running after the ball even when it's not far away. Not happy seeing that at all. The shot making and angles against Goffin got the job done but he'll have trouble against many players unless his movement improves.

Yes, Roger's game is definitely improving as he plays more. In the last match, Malek actually had more winner than Roger. That alone should tell you how often he was not really not moving well (sometimes not even trying). I remember one lob of Malek which Fed attempted to get by running back and before he could get there ball bounced twice. This is the kind of situation that he would easily have handled even last year.

Fed's match is too early in EDT, I will just have to resort to highlights.

Good luck to Fed.

p.s. Zevrev, play a good match (as I like you too), but lose it in the end!

Yup, that ball was within easy reach to run behind and lob back or attempt a tweener/hot dog but there have been many easier shots not far away at all that he hasn't bothered to go after either. Anyone hitting hard and deep into the corners will potentially beat him unless that changes fast:nono
