I finished work at 2:30 thinking this match would be over by the time I got home (had a few things to do and got home by 4). Amazed at how long it went on. What warriors.

Go back to your initial reply, bringing Nadal into it, incomprehensibly.

Anyway, think we can both agree on this one, both players giving us a fabulous afternoon, eh? :)

I explained why I brought in Nadal.... :nono

Don't be cheeky, son. You brought Nadal into a thread that had nothing to do with him. It was about great matches and you reacted like a typical Novak fanboy, bringing Nadal into it.

Get over yourself...

So I am cheeky, a typical Novak fanboy and I need to get over myself.

Classy Kieran. Ad hominem is the way to go.

Can anyone here (El Dude?) give me Nole's 5 set record versus that of Rafa and Borg? Those three would appear to have the best five set records. Murray may have a decent one too. I know Roger has come from 2 sets down 9 times, and Murray 7 times, but I don't know about the others. That stat would be cool to know as well. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Novak Djokovic is truly one of the all time greats. He proved it again today.

Sorry, I must have misread the troll comment then.

If you can't answer a question, say nothing. That's good advice...

I've read, and commented. It would be very easy for you to explain why you brought Nadal into it, then Wimbledon 2010.

There's only one reason, but I'm waiting for yours.

For the record, it was senseless to bring Nadal into this. It's a thread about great matches this Wimbledon, of which we've finally seen one...

And I am not discrediting anything. You are actually, I am saying this is a great Wimbledon with great matches. You are saying this is NOT a great Wimbledon and there are NO great matches so far.

Its not bizarre to bring in Wimbledon 2010. I wanted to point out that this is a subjective standard, and starting a thread like this implies a lot of subjectivity.

Here you go.

Seriously? That's it? You're kidding. What's that got to do with Nadal? Because he won it? It doesn't make sense, unless you think I'd change my view on greatness and say we saw huge great matches in 2010.

But did I say that?

So why bring it up?

Here you go, Shawn. This will show you just about everyone's 5-set record:

What I am saying is that what someone thinks of being a great match is a subjective standard. You may like certain matches, I may not. I thought those matches I listed were great matches, today's match was a classic. To me.

That being said, I think your standard is extremely high and doesn't allow for much matches to be qualified as great. In fact, you haven't been able to name a match great but one: a match that was a true thriller, not just great.

I mentioned Nadal to point the subjectivity of 'greatness' out to you, and then you are complaining about this and going all out on me about Djokovic. Practice what you preach please.

Actually, there's no subjectivity involved in calling Nadal "great." He plainly is great, one of the greatest ever.

You brought him into it when he had nothing to do with it. And you don't think you were being partisan? Funny dat...

Interesting. Johan Kriek tops the list. Who is Johan Kriek? Nadal right up there, and also surprisingly Tipsarevic (people here always accuse of 'tanking' matches).

How much Jameson did you have??? Im not talking about Nadal's greatness, Im talking about his matches silly.

I do think I am partisan. That's my point. So are you.

I meant 'great' not 'greatness' in that post.

Denisovich, pay attention please. We're neither of us getting younger.

You brought Nadal (or his matches) into it because you were being partisan. There's no other reason. Otherwise, why pick Nadal and not Novak, or Borg, or Sampras?

Anyway, you saw a great match today. Can you tell the difference between that one and the matches on your list? If so, you'll agree that what's great is seldom...
