I don't know how Fed can beat Djokovic in a potential QF match at Wimbledon unless the roof is closed. The moment Fed's first serve is neutralised he's a goner.
I mean here the roof was closed and he still lost that's why this loss is bad. I also think Coric got most of the luck going his way today, Fed missed an easy pass to break to win the first set 7-5. The TB is always dodgy because you can lose a point here and there and the TB gets away from you very quickly specially against an elite baseliner like Coric who doesn't really have a clear weaker wing.

Fed also had 0-30 in the first game of Coric. Fed needs to do more to break EARLY to put his mind at ease. He lets his opponent hold way too easily specially when it's not an elite server like Kyrgios or Raonic and then pays the price late. He needs to buck this trend asap.

He can handle Djoker and the rest if he plays a whole lot better. If he doesn't bring more than this there are 15+ guys that can take him out.

Don't defend her, she was rubbing in the loss unprovoked.
Why does she have to be provoked when you and others routinely call her player all kinds of names? Everyone better develop a thicker skin if you're going to dish it out.

I'm hopeful that his play this week was the result of playing back to back weeks. If that's the case this should be the last time he ever does it. No Canada and Cincy, no Shanghai and Basel, etc. IW and Miami are different since they are spread out over a couple weeks.

Lost in the loss and how ugly it got at the end is that this was easily the best match he played all week. He blew the first set in a couple big points and then his serve totally abandoned him the last two games. The margins are small on fast grass and today he played well 90% of the first two sets. The movement is the biggest concern, it was better today but still poor. If Fed serves and moves well on grass he probably isn't losing but after this awful week and having played a lot of tennis the past couple weeks it is a question mark going into Wimbledon.

I was a bit iffy about his decision to play Stuttgart but it made sense since a bad 1st or 2nd round loss in Halle would've made things worse for his confidence at Wimbledon losing 3 matches in quick successions.

He looked great in stuttgart but got progressively worse throughout the week in Halle, did raise his level in final but his serve completely deserted him in the last couple of games in the final set. Credit to Borna though for exposing his mediocre level.

Re:NA HC season,
I hope he plays only one of Canada or Cincinnati.Canada won't be a bad choice since it will be in Toronto this year.
If healthy he can fancy his chances there because Djokovic is not looking like a threat at the moment.

Don't you worry about my thickness. She, on the other hand, doesn't like getting called out for crap. She can't complain about us hating on her boy when she's rubbing in pathetic Fed losses immediately.

Congrats to Borna on his 2nd career title and first grass title. I think this is his first win over the #1 player as well.

He should just play Cincy in my opinion. It's a much better tournament for him.

Maybe going forward he should just play Halle before Wimbledon. It's possible if he lost early at Stuttgart he'd have played much better this week. That's my hope at least. The worry is that he may not be able to step it up big at Wimbledon. Stuttgart seemed quicker than Halle too, and Wimbledon is a lot slower than both which means a lot more baseline rallies. The only good match so far on grass he's had from the baseline was Milos a week ago.

Cincy is definitely much better for his confidence but they use different balls and the conditions are a lot different from current US Open.
Should definitely skip at least one of Canada/Cincy though.

Stuttgart was quicker for sure. He got affected a lot with the uncharacteristic bad bounce on Halle courts which apparently affected his timing.
I think he can raise his level though, he tried to coast a lot this week possibly due to being tired playing so many matches in such short time . hopefully he can find a higher level on centre court.

Draw should be out by friday I think.let's hope for the best :good:

Djoke is not back to his powers yet. Fed should have no problem if they were to meet as long as he serves well. If he puts in alot of 2nd's he will be easy pickins for ever he plays.

I think they both use much different balls than the US Open. Cincy is a better chance for more match practice and for winning the tournament. He definitely shouldn't do both.

Draw for Wimbledon will be big but regardless he needs to win the first few easily. If he struggles with a couple donuts it will be clear that this isn't his year.

KS.. this time of year all the shows for me are on hiatis for the summer . So I am gonna sit back this evening and watch the highest rated show this evening, the Gerry Weber Open starring Roger Federer and special guest star Borna Coric..(Maybe I can find Miss Carol on FB live). Have a great rest of your weekend.

Don’t pretend to be a nice guy when you are all the opposite and more when there is something about Nadal and I don’t like stupid posters laughing and critizing players everytime like your friend does and that’s why I responded him that way, he deserved it. Don’t be the devil lawyer :devilfinger:

I think it's clear by now that Fed can't do back to back tournaments anymore. The age is really starting to show. He was so fatigued in that third set. He should basically now just try his best in Wimbledon and only play Cincy-USO and Basel-WTF. Skip even Shanghai cause winning the WTF a 7th time is more important. Or just do Shanghai-WTF.

I think he should give up his chase for YE#1, otherwise it will cost him slams and WTF.

Skipping Canada is a no-brainer. After Wibledon, Just play Cincy and USO.

After that there is Laver Cup, which he cannot bail out from being his own creation.

There is a week gap between Shanghai and Basel. Further, Shanghai has the fastest courts (and is sponsored by ROLEX). So, he should not skip Shanghai. After Basel, there are two weeks gap before WTF (the Bercy week and a week off) and so he should be fine for the WTF.

Like he was last year? That Laver cup is the worst thing he can play at his age in the middle of the calendar. Adds absolutely nothing to his resume.

He must skip Shanghai then. By the time WTF rolls around Laver Cup and Shanghai is one tournament too many. Last year he was on an empty tank in the match against Muffin.

You got a point. Despite skipping Bercy, Fed sucked in WTF against weaklings.

But, the answer may not always be to skip more tourneys. Right now what happened to him was that he had 80 full days without any matches and all of a sudden he was playing 9 matches over the course of 12 days.

So, it is probably best for him to space out things and not have long breaks (except of course the clay season).

I think we've figured out that the contract is up, but nothing else is in place. Either he'll resign with them, or go elsewhere, but I guess until it's decided, he's going with Nike. I wonder if he'll be wearing them at Wimbledon, though.
