RE: General tennis news
No way would Soderling be a challenge to anyone. They're all declining, sure, but what do you think is happening to him? This isn't the WTA...
I mean I'm not discrediting Soderling or anything, but in his entire career, he virtually had two note-worthy wins. Other than that, he's been beaten by Nadal, Federer, Murray and Djokovic with regularity. A two year layoff won't help his case.
I think you're reaaaaaaaally overselling Soderling off of a 2-year layoff and underestimating the effect of such a time away from the game. Healthy or not, he'd be toast.
Front242 said:I'm sure many said the same about Kim Clijsters and yet she won the US Open in 2009, 2010 and the AO in 2011 having made a comeback after 2 years absence and having a kid. Not too bad when you think about it. And naturally I'm being sarcastic. She had just one before that and retired with 4 in 2012. If he comes back he won't just come back to dwindle in limbo where he's a nobody and he'll be up against aging top players. Assuming his health returns to 100% and he regains his fitness he'd be a challenge to any of them imo as they're all declining.
