Troicki's ban is finished soon and he's allowed to play from July 15th.

RE: General tennis news

I thought I'd post a photo of the gift I got from adidas tennis during Wimbledon. The message reads:

Here's something nice for you to put on during Andy's next match!
Take care, your friends at adidas tennis.
p.s. This is Andy's size ;)

pictures

Here is some of my other Andy memorabilia. They are all authentic shirts. They have Andy's sponsors on the sleeves and they're signed by Andy. What can I say? I love my boy.

WADA results for 2013.

http://www.wada-ama.org/Documents/Resources/Testing-Figures/WADA-2013-Anti-Doping-Testing-Figures-SPORT-REPORT.pdf

Read this shameful quote from the Roland Garros website. So supposedly 200 tests and yet there are 256 (128 x 2) players in just the singles for men and women alone! Already 56 weren't tested with simple maths there in just the men's and women's singles. Great testing guys. It's at the bottom of the page here. http://www.rolandgarros.com/en_FR/info/sustainability/index.html

"The fight against drugs
Drug-testing is carried out under the auspices of the International Tennis Federation (ITF).
At the 2013 French Open, almost 200 tests were carried out on players entered in the men's and women's singles and doubles main draws as well as the qualifiers and the juniors' tournaments.
Special areas dedicated to testing are located in the players' zone near to the locker-rooms."

See how many qualifiers there were in the draw also. The total number of players is way more than double the number of tests.

That is a lot of swag! How did you get so many autographed shirts? Very nice of Adidas to send you another one.

Thought this was interesting too. John McEnroe admits to having taken steroids for 6 years but of course he was unaware of it! I liked McEnroe but it would explain a lot of his outbursts and goes a long way to the not exactly myths of roid rage. His ex wife also said he took steroids but she made him stop because he became violent.

"For six years I was unaware I was being given a form of steroid of the legal kind they used to give horses until they decided it was too strong even for horses."

http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/tennis/mcenroe-i-was-given-steroids-but-did-not-know-572791.html

From the link below:

"He used steroids when he was coming back after Sean was born," she said. "I made him stop because he was becoming violent."

In the ABC interview O'Neal said that the violent temper that characterised McEnroe on court often flared up at home. She said that he was verbally abusive and that she left after "he kicked me down the stairs".

Front, since you pay attention to these things, perhaps you'd like to analyze some numbers for us. I looked at the WADA report, and the number of tests was pretty high for tennis, and the percentage of anomalies was low. (4%) And that was abnormal results. In the more specific tests, for EPO, etc, it seemed that tennis came up 0%. Feel free to offer a more detailed analysis.

As to RG, 200 tested across the field may seem low, but if they test only at the later stages and amongst winners, it could be considered a good sampling.

They did 0 tests for HGH, Moxie except for 1 wheelchair contestant! EPO has a half-life of 4 hours and I'm pretty sure this is being abused constantly. The fact that players are not allowed to be tested out of competition between the hours of 10pm and 6am is ludicrous and leaves it wide open to abuse.

Very interesting. Some he-said-she-said on the bitter divorce front, but McEnroe said he did take steroids, if unwittingly (and yes, debatable.) Still, this is 30-year-old news. When I make comments about anger issues, and bad skin, I get sneered at by Britbox and Broken for having no idea what PIDs are about. So what ARE we talking about?

It may be old news but that's what happens with cover ups in sport. We'll be waiting years for this generation too. Look how they covered up Agassi.

It's also big if an all time great was on roids for 6 years of his career. That's the point here.

You presume more understanding on my part, (and I think a lot of posters'.) Why don't you start from the beginning, since you want to talk about it so much? Give us a tutorial. That would be helpful. I actually think it would be very good if you would open a thread in General Tennis News, including maybe the links you just posted, and explain to us what these various drugs are, how they can be abused, and the difficulties with detecting them. It's very good information, and we could discuss the passport, testing, etc. in one place.

There are different type of steroids, I believe. They can be used for many different purposes, and not always just increasing the size of your body.

RE: General tennis news

Aside from power lifting, body building and maybe American football I doubt most athletes would want to use anabolic steroids at this point. Definitely not in tennis. I'd suspect EPO, blood doping, other testosterone boosters, and possibly HGH would be way more likely.
