I only intermittently watch the show. I've read all the books, and I'm rather irritated with George Martin. He's taking far too long to progress with the series. This could be another Robert Jordan disaster if passes away before the job is complete. But I must say they've done a pretty darn good job with the series

Just finished Book Three and I am now entering uncharted waters. My fiends who read Books Four and Five said they were terribly depressed after reading it so I move forward with fear and caution. George R. R. Martin is dark and full of terrors.

^Haha! They're depressed because George Martin is merciless and doesn't hesitate to kill off heroes. I suspect there'll be a lot of wailing an gnashing of teeth by the time the current series is over. We're actually quite close to the the extent of what he has written. They're slowing down certain parts and catching up with others at the moment. He really needs to pull his finger out and publish the next book in the series!

I think I may have to exit this thread because it may be a great potential that someone who have read the books may leak some of the events that may occur later in the series. This is not an attack on anyone on this thread, it's been fun but too much has been mentioned regarding the books.

I'm getting the same feeling, AP, but I don't think anyone has officially included a spoiler, but there have been a few close calls recently.

For those interested, there is a separate thread for the books:

http://www.tennisfrontier.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=2310

You may include as many spoilers as you like in that one, but let's please keep the focus on the TV show only here.

^Apologies, if I was too close the line. I was particularly careful not to reveal anything, but even giving a hint could be perceived as disruptive. Won't do it again!

RE: Game of Thrones

I've caught up with the TV series in the books and up until now I've avoided the places where people discuss the books but since I'm moving forward in the books I'll have to be careful too. There are a lot of theories and guesses out there about different things but the difficult part is how they decide to withhold some stuff until later. Or how they don't even address some stuff in the books at all. And since GRRM hasn't finished the books, the TV show writers have to just make it up as they go now. Going to be interesting to see how they end up doing this.

Yes if you've read the books how about we make a rule that you won't mention any future characters or hint at any big events that hasnt happened on the show yet. I read up to the end of season 3 (midway through the third book) and probably will hold off on reading the rest until the show is over. The books are great...but the show is epic. I rather watch it first.

As to fan theories that is different. I don't see harm in discussing them since we don't know for sure yet. Theories on Jon Snow's parents are popular amongst readers. And I do think that the popular theory will end up being true.

I agree with both of these: no discussion of the books (including left out characters, anything which deviates, etc.); stick to the series; theorizing what may come next, etc. (but within the context of the series) is OK.

I know, I'm weird. Part of it is I never liked to read when I was young. One of my regrets actually. I like it a lot more now but naturally I'm often too busy to sit down and read books.

^I read obsessively. Given the choice between a movie or a book, a book wins out every time for me. Particularly if I can have a nice cigar and single malt accompanying it :)

Really slow episode last night until the creepy ending. Still, it is setting things up nicely for the fireworks to come.

RE: Game of Thrones

Beware of spoilers if you haven't seen the Episode 6 yet!

Jon Snow
So he's going back over the wall to help gather the wildlings together and bring them to safety. Not sure if he should be leaving Castle Black. But I guess he doesn't have much of a choice. Not a very popular Lord Commander right now for sure.

Samwell Tarly
quickly rising in position. His fame is going to reach his father sooner or later. The guy who killed an Other. Would to see his father's reaction to all of this. And now Stannis is counting on him to find ways to kill the enemy.

Daenerys
I have no idea what she is planning on doing by marrying that Mereen leader guy. I still say burn the place to the ground and move on. She is now reduced to getting advice from her maid/assistant. Tyrion needs to get there quick.

Tyrion
He finally sees a dragon. And the added bonus of the Stone men and the ruins of Valayris. Loved the look on his face when he saw Drogon flying by. For once Tyrion was speechless.

Jorah
The guy just can't catch a break. Now he has greyscale(?). Unless they can find a cure like they did for Shireen, his time is limited.

Sansa
Man she is in one heck of a mess. That Bolton family is just flat out nutso. But the people of the North know she's there and Brienne is pretty close by. going to be interesting how this all goes down. Hope she gets some sweet revenge by killing that entire family and Theon. But this is GOT so it probably won't happen. Who thought she would find Theon in the kennel? For some reason I thought she would find one of the direwolves, Ayra's perhaps.

Slow episode. The part with Tyrion was the best. Kinda cool to see the ruins of Valayria. And an episode without Cersei. Kind of an odd episode I thought. And the season is half over! :nono

It's a huge risk, but it's better than having the character sit around counting votes in the dining hall. It should be an exciting adventure. Perhaps this is how/when they'll bring Bran back in? Just a guess, of course. No spoilers.

Samwell Tarly

I love his character. I guess it's not a coincidence the name calls to mind Samwise Gamgee?

Daenerys

This is a character in need of development in the worst way. She was on a tremendous trajectory for several seasons, but now it's like her car broke down in the middle of the desert, and the mechanics can't find the right parts.

Tyrion
He finally sees a dragon. And the added bonus of the Stone men and the ruins of Valayris. Loved the look on his face when he saw Drogon flying by. For once Tyrion was speechless.

A nice example of "less is more" acting. And so smart to have him see that prior to whatever is coming next.

Jorah
The guy just can't catch a break. Now he has greyscale(?). Unless they can find a cure like they did for Shireen, his time is limited.

His days are number, I imagine. That, or he'll be cured by Daenerys. But I doubt it.

Sansa

They had shown him there before -- remember when his sister tried to save him? -- so I figured that's where this was going as soon as Sansa walked in. I suspect the writers are slowly working their way towards Theon getting his revenge, while also playing a role in saving Sansa.

Slow episode. The part with Tyrion was the best. Kinda cool to see the ruins of Valayria. And an episode without Cersei. Kind of an odd episode I thought.

See how great Cersei is? Admit it: you missed her! ;) Just kidding. You put it perfectly in an earlier post: she's the person you love to hate -- which makes her absence particularly noticeable.

And the season is half over! :nono

I realize you're going to have to trust me on this, but I promise you it wasn't. I even checked the logs. Nothing has been deleted today. (The software automatically logs everything that's deleted.)

Are you sure you posted it? Sometimes people write them, but forgot to click the submit button, especially if they do the "preview post" first.

Hmmm.. ok. Perhaps that's what happened.

PS, I have no reason to distrust you about such a trivial matter! Nor for bigger matters as far as I can tell! Thanks for checking
