The Wire was the best written, acting and produce series ever..the lines spoken by those characters were just amazing..E.g. Remember when when Chris beat young Michael"s drug addict mother's boyfriend to death which horrified his cold blooded partner in crime Snoop, who stated, "what he ever do to You"..pure television art at its pure finest.

GoT and Sopranos are way ahead on my list.

Breaking Bad was pretty good. I watched Season 1 of the Wire. Thought it was OK but never felt the need to carry on watching it... although plenty of people have told me that it ramps up a lot in Season 2.

Well I thought season 1 of the Wire was phenomenal. I think season 2 was the weakest and then 3 and 4 were incredible, the best of the series. If you didn't like season 1 then it's probably pointless to keep going so I see why you stopped

I'm not sure where I'd rank Sopranos, maybe 4 but I see it the opposite of you in that I'd have GOT and BB way ahead of it and I thought the Wire was better too.

I hear you though I wouldn't say it's the best acting. The writing is outstanding and it has so many memorable characters and scenes. I know a bunch of people who get offended that I don't have it as my #1 show ever. At the end of the day GOT and BB are/were way more entertaining. And I'd say GOT has it beat in other ways too.

I thought the Wire had really good acting to be honest, that wasn't my issue with it... well, I didn't really have an issue with it other than it moved a little too slow. I watched Season 1 with the missus and neither of us felt compelled to watch Season 2... even though we both thought it was OK and people say Season 2 takes it to a new level.

Sopranos... was streets ahead of everything for me and on another level... until GoT. The character development was phenomenal.

I've got to say, I prefer these TV box set series by far to most movies these days.

I'd probably stick House of Cards in as my number 3. But plenty of other good shows out there.. although probably slightly different culturally for a Brit than an American. I think the Fall was good (British/Irish), Peaky Blinders (British)... not sure how well these would translate to an American audience.

Breaking Bad was good... probably in my Top 5.

Well, one thing these shows have in common is some villains and villainess. I think that's where's GOT rises above as for as the action and the villains. (plus the sex scenes). GOT has only two main characters who are considered to be good people that's Jon Snow and Tyrion Lannister. I really like a lot of the other characters but most of them are cold blooded bastards. I still can't believe Lord Baelish aka little finger gave up Sansa to Ramsay. I guess its all about the game. As much as I would want Jon to win, My money is on Lord Varys/Tryion/Daenyrus to win the Game. I can't until her dragons face Space the Winter King.

I think one of the big strengths of GoT is that there is a lot of grey area when it comes to villains and villainesses, lots of flawed characters..

Well, the weekend is nearly upon us and Winter is coming. GoT starts on Sunday night. Should be an action packed cracker.

Cersei is just keeping the seat warm... and that seat is going to get very warm when Dany and her Dragons roll into town.

Season 7 predictions:

Power struggles will undermine the vulnerable Sansa Stark / Jon Snow alliance. With possibly catastrophic consequences.

Westeros will miraculously find something to disarm (temporarily) those pesky dragons.

Dany Targaryen v Cersei Lannister will be the mother of all bitch-fights.

Jaime OR Cersei Lannister will be Season 7's high-profile casaulty.

....and we're off, with Season 7...

Not sure if everyone has seen it yet, but saw the first episode as a fairly low key start to the new season... kind of explaining some things from the past and setting things up for the rest of the season. This one is shorter (7 episodes) than the others, so things are likely going to ramp up very quickly. My guess is next week will be explosive.

Pretty slow episode like BB said. I wouldn't be surprised if next week builds it up more and then it gets explosive for the last 5 episodes. Best scene was definitely the first one especially because you knew what was coming when you saw the "old fella"
