I think we had this convo on one of the old boards after season 4 but how do you guys rate the GOT seasons so far?

I'd have it like this

4,3,1,6,5,2

It's seriously tough to pick between them all though I really liked season 4 the most. Just tons of stuff happening and it didn't seem like there was ever a slow week. I almost group 1,3, and 6 as a tie. And then 2 and 5 are right behind them. There hasn't been a bad season or even just an ok one. They've all been great IMO so it makes it tough to rate them.

Mine would be:

6,3,4,1,2,5

All good in their own right... Season 5... I remember the Dany storylines getting a bit tiresome and repetitive, that's why that one comes in last.

4, 1, 6, 3, 2, 5. I thought 5 was by far the worst. 2 might be the least eventful, but at least it's tight and well-written (mostly follows the book so that helps). 5 was all over the place by the show's standard. This season on the other hand, was incredible.

I know this is old news at this point but I thought the opening "montage" to the season finale was absolutely breathtaking. Complete masterpiece.

Season 5 was bottom of my list too, the Dany segment was getting way too repetitive... even so... compared to most other shows Season 5 was still good viewing.

So, Jon Snow is pretty certainly a Targaryen/ Stark lovechild... Ned's nephew (rather than son) and cousin to Sansa, Arya, Brandon... rather than a brother... but also the nephew of Dany... With that it mind, I think the Starks might join the Dorne/Martell/Dany/Dothroki alliance that will take on the Lannisters. Question is... who takes the Iron throne... Dany or Jon? I think Season 7 will finalise business south of the wall and Season 8 will finalise business with the White Walkers... Fire and Ice.

Really interested in the apparent tension between Jon and Sansa too. Curious to see where that leads, especially if she finds out who he really is.

Especially with Littlefinger in Sansa's ear.

Will Jon get it on with Dany? Incest is rife in the Targaryen dynasty!

It'd be a weird twist if Jon never finds out either due to Bran not ever seeing him again (very unlikely now) or just not wanting to tell him that his whole life was a lie (possible). Maybe there will be some sort of power struggle over Winterfell between Jon and Sansa but I doubt it. I think what this season was showing is that Sansa is now no longer a pushover, she is suddenly someone who demands respect even from Jon, but I'm not sure she is power-hungry just yet.

Well said. I think 2 had the least action by far but it was still excellent. It was a season heavy on dialogue and slow action all the way up until the Battle of Blackwater but it was far from boring. 5 had plenty of action but as was mentioned a bunch of the plots had holes in them.

Yeah I don't think it's going to necessarily be a power struggle per se, but I'm pretty sure we'll get a lot of tension as both actors publicly acknowledged it in interviews (and both blamed it on Jon). Of course they could be speculating but I'm sure they're aware of what direction things are heading so I think there's something there.

^ Ah, I was unaware that they talked about it in interviews. Thanks for the heads-up.

I know there are plenty of great characters... but if you had to pick ONE as your favourite... who is it?

Oberyn Martell was a big favorite of mine, which is odd considering he only appeared for one season.

^ Yeah, he was a great character - exuding menace and charm in equal amounts.

I like loads of them to be honest. I though Tywin Lannister was superb (played by Charles Dance) - I like the "bad guys" equally. The Hound is superb... Tyrion is hilarious... but i'm going to plump for Arya Stark. Maisie Williams is all over that role - she's great and I love the journey the character has been on.

It's pretty damn hard to pick the best one when you think about it. I think all the Lannisters are excellent in their own way. Cersei is brilliantly wicked, Tyrion is brilliantly witty and pretty complex in his own right. But I actually think Jaime is the best character in the story and the actor does an outstanding job but when you stop and think about it he is not nearly as big of a character as his siblings or someone like Jon Snow and Arya. Jaime's plots are important and he is not a minor character by any means but many others are bigger players on the show and in the books. Tywin was awesome too, a very likable villain and the dynamic between him and all his children, especially Tyrion, was one of the best parts of the show.

But then you move past the Lannisters and Jon Snow is an awesome character and so is Arya. The Hound is also high on the list like BB mentioned. If I truly had to narrow it to one I'd say Tyrion.
