I think when he says he needs somebody to motivate, he actually means "inspire." He's very motivated but he needs the kind of company that lifts. I'm a little concerned about Murray because he's back pre-Lendl again, and in those days he suffered the most awful and inexplicable slumps, and he lacked the killer instinct in slam finals.

He needs somebody in his corner who believes in him, who he looks up to, and who inspires him. He had the perfect marriage with Lendl, and that kind of bromance can be a long time happening again...

I hated the break between Andy and Lendl because Lendl was just who Andy needed! And I'm still concerned about Andy's back condition.

Rumors are that Andy is "fairly close" to finalizing his coach. According to BBC, Andy has
someone in mind who he thinks will accept the job once asked. However, Andy has not
yet contacted this person.

Andy says clearly to not to expect any announcements about the coach at least until
the end of FO.

I guess some Andy Worshippers might know the id of the mystery man that Andy
is thinking of. If so, spill out guys (and girls).

The Tennis Channel reported he was getting close to naming his new coach, but "close" seemed to be the operative word! I haven't a clue who it will be, but Andy needs help now!

No problem, my friend.

Do you know why he chose her? I don't know much about her, so I'm not sure what she can offer.

Can't even comment. I don't have any idea how that will help him.

Unexpected to say the least but he was coached by his mother for a long time so at least we know he is comfortable in this situation. As to what she brings to the table, I have no clue because besides Llodra, I don't know much about her resume.

I'm happy with this appointment to be honest. She's coached Llodra and Bartoli to grass court titles, we'll see what effect it has on Andy's game in the next few weeks, if any.

Any coach that can add some focus and consistency to Murray's performances can only be a good thing though.

My only worry is that he won't necessarily feel the same desire to impress Mauresmo as he did when he had Lendl.

Yeah I really don't see the big deal about this. If she's got a good tennis mind and has clear ideas as to what she can do to help Andy's game (at least Andy seems to think that, otherwise he wouldn't have hired her), I don't see why not.

I'm very happy with the appointment to be honest, I hope it works out and leads to more opportunities for female coaches in tennis. There should certainly be more female coaches on the WTA especially.

Well the rumours were correct....Mauresmo is the new coach for Andy.

I hope this new partnership is a successful one.

I will be interested to hear Iona's thoughts regarding Mauresmo as Andy's new coach.
