As a Fed fan, I feel it's almost unfair that he has to play with a single handed backhand against Rafa on clay.:D not that he can win with two handed backhand but atleast it doesn't look as ugly.

The game plan hasn't actually been all that bad but the execution has been ridiculously poor for Fed. So many errors.

This is the most consistent Roger has been in a long time...he is consistently missing every makeable shot.

Fed should take an 11 minute dump break and then tape both his knees.

Commentator said it's bordering on embarrassing. Bordering? Can't wait to see the final error count for Fed.

Right now a walkover would seem more entertaining than this. Let's see if Rafa throws him a freebie on his serve to keep it from being double breadsticks.

Breadstick avoided and he really should learn from that. 2 points won when hitting to Nadal's BH. worked so well for him to do the same thing Nadal does to him back at Indian Wells 2012, namely wallop every ball to his BH. Bit late now though and he'll likely lose his serve again dismally here.

Really? Then how Dimitorv did so well against him? And Wawrinka also did a much better jond than Roger.
The issue is a single BH can be a weapon, for Roger is a useless shield.

As the years go by, people will totally forget that these two had terrific matches on clay. It's really a shame. And I'm not only talking about the obvious one (Rome 06) but also Monte Carlo and Paris in 2006. Both of them were fantastic displays of movement and shotmaking on clay. Hamburg 2008, Madrid 2011 and Paris 2005 too. Today Nadal is up 6-1, 5-2 without having to play anywhere near his best. This just shouldn't happen, it just should not happen against Roger freaking Federer. Congrats to Nadal for his 24th Masters shield, unbelievable achievement. But one thing is for sure, I will never ever waste a sunday afternoon watching these two play on clay.

Yeah it's all about poor execution. Fed can win points well with his BH if the execution is better but it was diabolical today. Coria had great success with one handed BH against Nadal too. The expected result for Nadal but Fed was like a poor WTA player.

Good man, Ralph: it was a thrashing. Nadal looks a lot better now than he did earlier this week...

Matchups are a bitch, no? The people that trouble Nadal, take sets from him, Roger beats them before he steps on the court. The dynamics between these two are just weird. Rafa seems to always step up, Roger seems to always play below how he can, and even when he plays somewhat up to his standarts, there is no guarantee he is winning. Nadal is just a horrible matchup for Roger, since day one.

I'm sorry it wasn't a better match, but I'm pleased to see Rafa's form and serve of the last 2 days. This is the way to go into RG. ¡Vamos!
