Yeah, after 17 straight final appearances, that A-hole should keep his 1 Slam mouth shut. :dodgy:

Last time @DjokerNole retired was vs. @DelPotroJuan in 2011 @DavisCup SF. Djokovic played 350 matches before his next retirement (312-38).*

The eye was slightly red, but the problem didn't look serious. Probably a minor abrasion due to something blown into it by the wind. He should be fine in a couple of days. Too bad about the streak being broken by this.

And some would say Nole is not loved. On twitter some fan was offering his eyes to him:clap

Djoke not loved? He was swamped by fans at USO 2015. The line to get his autograph was ridiculously long. That was not the case 2-3 years ago. I do think he is not as loved as Fed or Nadal at this point in time. I actually like him very much as a person.

Novak Djokovic's FB post.

"I caught an eye infection that was getting worse every day because I wasn't resting my eyes enough. Unfortunately, wearing lenses is not the best way to fight infection but that was the only way for me to be able to compete. I'm really sorry for not finishing my match tonight. It was not meant to be. Congrats to Feliciano, he did really well and wish him to keep going further in the tournament."

If he felt that way he shouldn't have started to play the match knowing that he couldn't see too well the ball...

Imagine he wanted to try his best to equal Lendl's record of 18 straight finals and potentially recover and build on that to try and break it. Anyway he'll be fine.

Have you officially migrated over to the Djokovic fan club or do you require an invite from the top cheerleaders( herios and the others).,Probably a good time to jump ship from the old bandwagon and ride of the popular ship

Federer still holds the record of 24 consecutive tournament finals won (2003–2005) and that may well be a record that will last for a long, long time.

I've always liked Djokovic's game. Good time why exactly? 'cos his best competition is almost 35 ? Only natural that the world number 1 wins most events but I'm still a fan of a Federer more than anyone else.

Yes, right eye problem. Used drops before match began. Can't believe some people booed him. How rude.

Maybe they had a pre-2011 flashback or something? When you say a professional retired with an "eye problem" that no one can visibly see it sounds stupid if said eyeball isn't rolling on the ground or swollen shut. It's like people have just been waiting around for Djokovic to come up with some quirky injury just so they could boo him. Anybody who's got allergies can tell you that some days you spend half the day with your finger stuck in your eye trying to wipe away the gunk. It's even worse if you've got an actual infection. Maybe he's got conjunctiviits (pink eye). I did see some pix of him in a pool with his brother and chlorine can exacerbate any kind of eye infection. Still...it would have been better if he'd blinked his way through the match and lost without retiring...just saying...

:laydownlaughing "Maybe it's bird flu, anthrax, SARS...common cough and cold..." Didn't help that the reporter was egging him on...

No offense, to Nole, but DUH! No, you shouldn't be wearing contact lenses if you have an eye infection. Especially if he wasn't playing. What a doofus. Why not just wear his glasses off the court and put the contacts in for the 40 minutes it would take him to win his match? My sympathy just went right out the window...

To be fair, it was only a week ago that Front shut up about the egg.
