Heartbreaking loss for Delpo. I guess some things are just not meant to be, he seems cursed in masters tournaments, just cursed. He should be a serious contender for the YEC though. Congrats to Novak, big win for him. If he keeps this form I like his chances to defend the YEC and win another DC for Serbia to end his season on a high and use it as a springboard into 2014.

Yes, sorry for Del Potro, but congrats to Djokovic. Certainly avenging the loss of his #1.

vamos..plenty of variety in that final not, just tennis pong (#Atari).

del potro still can't win that elusive masters title..djokovic is victorious in front of an enthusiastic capacity crowd..and he kicked the clock, which is a new move.

Novak is like two people. He's either extremely clutch, in a bug-eyed hyper way, or tremendously brittle and forlorn on court. Good to see he's reconnected with the flame! I imagine he tore his shirt and bellowed loudly. Looking forward to highlights...

Best two players in the Asian tour no doubt. Nole's level in the first set was incredible. He was clearly more comfortable holding serves in the third set than DP but I really thought JM was going to pull it out... He deserves a Masters 1000 already.

I knew it would be good news no matter what when I woke up this morning, and I was not disappointed. Good for Nole, too bad for Juan. I am gonna watch a replay later today.

Djokovic's chances of defending the WTF are looking stronger and stronger. 2 straight title defenses with strong fields.

Caught the last set and the TB. First, congrats to Novak. Good job defending both tournaments in this swing.

To me, it seems like more often than not, Delpo ends up being the guy that runs out of steam whenever he plays a long match with one of the top guys. He looked like he had no legs towards the end again. He outlasted Roger in the 5 set US Open final but he was a teenager then. I mean, he is a big guy , so I am not sure how he can conserve more energy to stay fresh at the end of games. He is the slowest guy I have seen as far as in between points. You almost feel like running into the court to check if he has a pulse he is that slow. Now I know it is to save every bit of energy...

He still fought hard though, so congrats to him as well. Their interaction during the ceremony was heart felt and entertaining. I think those to actually enjoy each others company.

Whether you're picking heart over head, if Del Potro plays the final like he played today, and Djokovic plays his best, (and he has been looking sharp,) it's going to be a bloodbath, and will come down to a few key points. This could be as good as their Wimbledon semi. :please:

I'll be in the Del Potro corner, and not just to see Djokovic lose. He's long over-due for a Masters Shield, combined with the comeback struggles. In any case, I'll be surprised if it doesn't go 3.

Great call by the Mox! :) :clap

You're really on to something here. I'm wondering where this Novak was in the summer, when he looked somewhat jaded and sluggish. All of a sudden he has flipped the switch to being the ultra-hungry warrior on a business mission who storms through tournaments.

Yeah, it's probably even a mystery to him. But he's only human, we all have days when we're more on than others. The beast we saw in China is unrelated to the timid pussy cat who went down in straights to Murray at Wimbledon. Or if they're related, it's like Jekyll and Hyde...

Great win by Djokovic. He was really clutch in the TB. I really do think that Delpo should improve his fitness. In the Wimbledon match and this one, that was crucial.

It's a pity to see that Delpo doesn't have a masters title. How weird is it that someone like Ferrer has one, and Delpo doesn't?

I agree but Paris is always a tournament where the top players don't do well. Not meant as a knock to Ferrer but he didn't have to beat anyone of the caliber of Djokovic, Del Potro or Nadal to win. And again, not his fault they lost early but still, the path was definitely a lot easier than here. Janowicz mowed down 5 top 20 opponents (Kohlschreiber, Cilic, Murray, Tipsarevic and Simon), Djokovic lost to Querrey, Llodra beat Del Potro. It was still a great win by Ferrer and I'd say the occasion may have got to Janowicz and if they met again in a final it may be a different story. Took Fed years to win Paris. Personally I was delighted Llodra did so well last year and hope he does well again this year. His S&V is great to watch there as he loves the court and the home crowd support.

He might assert himself 2 weeks from now in Paris. That is the odd one, the lone master for: Berdych, Tsonga, Soderling and Ferrer
