Isner defeated in straight sets by Cilic. Now it is 2-2. The deciding match is between Jack Sock and Borna Coric. Whoever wins this, will be an instant hero as far as their country is concerned. Borna is a break up 5-3 in 1st set right now.

This TIE should be over! What in the world happened to Cilic Friday? Mon Dieu, he was up 2 sets to love against a newbie! I guess I shouldn't talk since Isner and Querrey lost to some nobody from GB outside the top 100 by the name of Ward in successive TIES! :nono  :cover :eyepop

Yep, it was an upset! I don't think anyone expected Jack Sock to beat Cilic. But, then after being 2-0 up on Friday, now they have come down to 2-2 when everybody expected Bryan Brothers will clinch the tie. :cover

Coric wins it 3-1. Croatia advances and will play France.

I got this one right unlike Tignor. Both of us were wrong in picking Italy over Argentina.

That French team is pretty stacked - especially considering they have the #1 ranked doubles team to back them up. But anything can and often does happen in DC.

This weekend should have some really good matches. I'm somewhat glad now that Del Po and Murray went out early in the USO so they can battle it out in DC.

Monfils is out now too, so it looks like Pouille and Gasquet are the singles players for France while Hugues Herbert/Mahut have the doubles. Should be some good matches- anyone know if Karlovic is playing? Between him, Cilic, and Coric they can also field a very good team. With Monfils and Tsonga out, I think this result is now almost a coin flip- in true DC fashion.

On the other side I think GB wins with about 60% certainty. Most likely scenario is JMDP wins both of his singles rubbers, but Murray brothers take the doubles and you have to assume Andy beats Delbonis. So the whole tie could come down to a Dan Evans or Kyle Edmund vs. Delbonis match- which on GB soil I give a slight advantage to the home team.

Everyone's stacked around the world except "The States!" What happened to us? We barely held on with Roddick and that was a drowning nightmare being owned by Federer! The ladies are looking good with vets, current stars, and a nice new generation on the horizon! We can only hope the guys can catch fire or we'll be in the weeds for years to come with Thiem, Zverev, Kei, Milos, and others ruling the foreseeable future! :cover :nono

Finally, a strategy of La Monf that may actually pay dividends. :laydownlaughing

Yeah, I couldn't believe it when Sock lost to Coric- after having done the hard work two days earlier beating Cilic. Isner lost to Cilic that day too, but that is kind of to be expected, honestly...

I know this would never happen, but how cool would it be if you could sub players in/out during a match for DC? Isner would be a great closer- put him in a set where he was already up a break and he would almost never lose.

Don't leave the Bryan Bros off the hook! I know they've been around for a long time, but if they can't close it out with a 2 match lead from DAY 1, maybe it's time to retire as well as Roger & Rafa! Are they going the route of our DC doubles greats like Smith & Lutz, Stewart & McNair, and McEnroe & Fleming? Boy am I old! :nono :puzzled  :cover

Rafa has gastroenteritis but maybe he will be able to play tomorrow or on Sunday singles or the doubles.

DelPo and Murray tied up at a set each. Murray is really grinding out some of these points- the court looks super slow, but DelPo is still hitting through it pretty easily when his forehand connects.

If that is the case, he would be better of to just watch his teammates. They do not really need him to win.
Lopez and Ferrer already won their first matches.

Man, what a match. JMDP guts it out in 5 tough sets. That point is pretty crucial- have to assume GB is going to take the doubles tomorrow, and Andy/JMDP win on Sunday. So this next match between Pella/Edmund could be the real decider.

Yeah! Go Argentina!

Doubles match is not that decided yet. It is true that GB has the #1 doubles player in the world, but Argentinian doubles are always quite tough on Davis Cup. Besides, A. Murray will surely play thinking on his match on the next day. He just had a five setter, another one could mean that he might be in trouble sunday. That might make him try to hurry things up... put the pressure of being 0-2 on top of that, and an upset becomes not that impossible.

Anyway, del Potro on the final match, if needed, is a giant task even for a top guy, and there won´t be one in front him...
