To be fair he had a sore leg against Murray. But anyway, by his own admission, they call him "Tsunami" as he plays one very good match and a terrible one next pretty much all the time. That scoreline in his last loss isn't terrible though by any means.

That's not anything new! When Darcis took out Nadal a couple years ago at Wimbledon in the 1st round, it had the same dynamics! He ran enough to take out Nadal in straights, then promptly defaulted the next round with his own leg injury! Typical; which makes it all the more embarrassing for Rafa! :cover :nono  :dodgy:

What does Nadal/Darcis have to do w/ this thread? They're not even playing here.

We have a rematch of USO finals here at Washington DC at SF stage. Nishikori to face Cilic.
Hope Nishi wins this time.

It wasn't his leg. He fell and bust his shoulder and sadly hasn't been the same since. Pretty unfortunate.

So many limped out of Wimbledon due to it being slick that year! I may have misspoke, but my comment is still pertinent and on point! After an upset of a top player, many "also-rans" lose in the next round; NOTHING NEW! Thanks! :cover :nono  :dodgy:

Yeah, it's the easiest bet in tennis really. After a top player goes out, the winner does lose the next match a huge % of the time. Shame really.

Johnson serves more aces than Sock. Either he is improved his serve, or Sock is not a good returner, Or both.

Johnson 12 aces 1 DF
Sock 4 aces and 9 DF

Second SF tomorrow

John takes it advances to the semifinals! His rankings will now jump to about No. 42 next week!

I suppose John is on his usual schedule of Atlanta, Washington, Canada, Cincy, Winston Salem and then losing in the 2nd or 3rd round of USO. :laydownlaughing

Sorry, meant Johnson. But you're talking about Isner and you're exactly right. :cover

Lots of interest in this USO rematch.

Still amazing to me that Cilic has won a Slam but has never even sniffed a Masters title. He has never made one single Masters SF in his career. His career is the greatest example of that "One Shining Moment" that Americans are so fond of.

Why would Americans have any feelings about Cilic winning besides not having one of our own taking the USO last season? :puzzled - Cilic's been a fairly talented and successful player, but like so many others, he was very unlucky to have been playing in the same era as these "Big 3" who he has little if any success with! Nole's the only one who periodically has a bad day allowing a player like Cilic, Wawrinka, and Berdych to take him out while the others haven't given him a sniff IIRC! It's an anomaly that he has a major with no inroads in past Masters, but if we look back, maybe someone has been lucky to sneak in like that! To me, winning his lone major last season pales in comparison to him taking Queens a few years ago with disqualification of Nalbandian! I don't know why; just so surreal when David all but had the cup in his hands! Idiot! :cover :nono  :dodgy:
