I know. But I agree he didn't take those 2 chances you mentioned and I felt he missed a routine FH in the TB at 3-2 that would have given him the cushion at the changeover

Isner defeats Johnson 6-3, 3-6, 7-6(9) and advances to his second straight final after winning Atlanta last week. Isner will be going for his 11th tour title.

Nishikori does what he was supposed to do at last year's USO final and defeats Cilic in three sets. He will be going for his 10th tour title and third this year after winning Memphis and Barcelona.

Isner leads the H2H 1-0 after beating Nishikori in straight sets in Miami this year.

If Nishi has (one more time) problems in his ankle he won't be able to run and to return the Isner's missiles, I don't see how he could win

Isner takes the first set 6-4. Isner playing well so far. Will have to see if his stamina holds up or if Nishikori wears him down.

Nishikori leading the 2nd set 2-1. Isner calls trainer on court. Shoulder issues?

Isner and Nishi have some issues, I can't see who is going to win, whoever feel better at the end :puzzled

Nishikori wins 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 for his 10th ATP tour title. six of those are 500 titles. Impressive. And his ranking will go up to No. 4, passing Wawrinka.

:clap

I think it takes him a few games to adjust to the pace and read the serve. Plus he lost the last match to both Cilic and Isner which caused a little mental weariness too.

Oh look, another crap glass/flower vase trophy. What is this fixation the American tournaments have with cheap, unimpressive glass trophies? Get a real trophy!
