Rublev v. Paire was very entertaining, after the first set. Medvedev took out PCB in no time at all. Rublev had nice words for Paire, in anticipation of playing him, speaking yesterday. He says he likes him a lot, calls him a "magical" person. Calls him a friend and says he has a big heart. He said that, yes, sometimes he doesn't always behave well on the court, "but he knows that." And that when he's focused and playing his best, he's a very talented player, "and he knows that, too," he said, with a smile. Almost makes me want to rethink my dislike of Paire, because I like Rublev so much. In anticipation of playing Medvedev tomorrow, today he said, "I've never beaten him once in my life, and not only on the tour." LOL.

Tsitsipas was about to wrap up his match with FAA, but's allowed him off the hook holding 2 MP's! He's broken, now trying to save the 2nd set!

The young Canadian ran out of gas vs Pegasus..
That gives FAA too much credit. It was really mostly all about the Greek. He should have gotten it done in two. I know our friend @El Dude is still holding out hopes, but Felix is not doing his part.

Just about the very same thing happened to me repeating this score! Was playing a club SF match against a doctor! Won the 1st set 6-2, was up 3-1 in the 2nd when he broke a string! He didn't have a back up and selected a tester racket from the club store! Somehow pace of shot changed and he stole the 2nd set 5-7 because I hated TB's back then! In the 3rd I seized controll and won easily 6-1! That match occurred in the Summer of '77! Won the "B" level final in straights 2 days later! I was 20! My name should still be up on the winners' board if the club still exists; "OPRFRC!" :partying-face:

How bout that; the Top 4 seeds got to the Semi-Final! Is this the start of something big for this era of young players? Is this the next "Big 4?" :face-with-hand-over-mouth:
Whatever you want to call them, I do think these are the most likely top 4, for now, after the Big 3. A few others in there, but this is the last 4 you would have wanted. I do think Medvedev will come through, and I hope so. As to the other two, I'll root for the guy who plays the best.

The way Medvedev is cruising in these HC summer tournaments it's not like he is getting tired really. It is a perfect prep for USO.

2 interesting semifinals today, it has that next big 4 sort of feeling to it. And with regards to USO and Novak's chances there for winning it; no one really thinks his chances rise now because Fed and Nadal are missing due to injuries. I believe that above 4 guys are much bigger threat at the moment on HC so his quest for USO will still be difficult and the gut feeling tells me he won't be able to pull it off.

I see Danill is just being Danill at present up 4-1 over Rublev
Danill reminds me of Novak in ways,he goes into 'no miss mode' at times
Danill 1st set 62

OOps Danill ran into a camera at the back of the court, honestly it should not be there,he had asked for it to be moved, now he is having a MTO on his hand.Appear's okay 2nd set has started.

That hand is a bit of a worry, but Rublev is playing very well. Up a break in the 3rd.

I hope Danill hand is okay he was playing great tennis before the 'camera incident' Insane they would allow a camera on the back of any tennis court.

I missed it, but come on! Camera's have been on court since the BOOM back in the 70's! It's ridiculous for these players to be running around there, dodging linesmen and ball kids! Rublev finished off Medvedev! Shocking! :astonished-face: :partying-face: :face-with-tears-of-joy:

Danill said he 'would sue' if his hand was broken" he looked rattled after the incident and I do not blame him.Apparently he had asked for the camera to be removed in his earlier match to the umpire.,to no avail.
Quite frankly he has played a lot of tennis recently and I think he needs a rest before the USO.He has to be one of the favorites to win,he has found his groove on the hard courts.

He should. I've only really been to the US Open, but the cameras are separated from the courts by a barrier. It's ridiculous to have them on the court, if you ask me.
