Or maybe Emma loves the USO balls she is playing with :)
Before we get too carried away lets see how Emma manages the rest of her draw, she did not play in Cinncy last year

We will see how she does for the rest of the tournament, but for now it's great to see her playing well & injury free.

For sure, this is the kind of tennis she played at the USO, when she was winning matches, though I always feel it is harder to defend your GS title, Emma will be under pressure, again lets see how she handles the pressure. For now, she seems to be enjoying her tennis, which is a positive thing.

Elena Rybakina defeats the No 8th seed Garbine Muguruza 63 61....I am not surprised at all with this result, Elena the Wimbledon champion, has a game, which also suits the HC. Garbine has been struggling all year so far with her game
Well done Elena!

Iga Swiatek (1) d Sloane Stephens 64 75, not a good performance, has plenty to build on, with 25 UFE, Sloane had her chances in this match, but could not convert at critical times in the match

I know it has been said around here before, and I hate to be small, but good heavens, Ostapenko needs a stylist. I'd root for Maddie anyway, but I have to hope I've seen the end of that shocking pink and leopard monstrosity!

As far as Ostapenko is concerned, it not her selection in tennis apparel that is awful, it's her attitude. It is never her fault if she misses a point, and the constant questioning of "Hawkeye" or any automatic line calling is just ridiculous. I am really hoping one of these days she gets into an argument with an umpire, and she's either defaulted or penalized to the point she loses her match. Her attitude, her poor sportsmanship is well documented. It is time the WTA took action, if they even bother to care that is.
