me neither. I don't see how he can hold that passed pawn. And even if he's somehow able to get Magnus to give the exchange sac back, when the dust clears his pawn structure will be a disaster

He can get that exchange back but he is still down at least a pawn and his position is too loose...but opposite colored bishops. Maybe still a little play here but I expect Carlsen will win

Poor time management for sure here. This is a logical move, he's worrying too much about ramifications of Carlsen pushing h5 is my guess

rather passive choice by Magnus there, probably just waiting for time pressure to break him

Carlsen making the poor boy play this out haha. He is frustrated, it's one of those games he feels like he should've won and simply didn't. Even if there were no big mistakes it's tough to take. Those are naturally more frustrating than games that are pretty even throughout.

I'm happy for Georgiadis

I like the fighting spirit. He's obviously out of his league at this event so his best chance is all out attacks. He certainly isn't going to outplay these guys positionally.

Nico's openings have been a mess but with opprtunities for counterplay. Today he doesn't really have that.

Nf8 was surprising choice, I figured Ra8 for Shakh. Now Carlsen has Rc7, Rc8, Rxc6

Rc7 played. Rec8, Rxc6, Rxc6, d5, Qe8, dxc6, g5, Bg3, Qxc6 would be wild

Wow they blitzed those out. Shakh went for Qc8 and then Ne8.

Looks well handled by him, my line would've led to a lot more sharp play. That's how I like it :D

Should be a draw but I don't blame Carlsen if he plays on here, he has the bishop and potential to create a passed pawn.

Carlsen as he so often does has slowly improved his position in a fairly even endgame and now Shakh has to be careful.
