But I'm wrong, draw agreed. Surprising Magnus didn't play it out a little longer, that's out of character

Lol! Maybe he's getting tired or demoralised

Yeah I guess. One thing going for Caruana is that he has a day off to prepare for game 12 as white. Question is what will the score be. Game 11 with Magnus as white will almost definitely be a quiet game unless Caruana wins game 10 tomorrow.

The theory that Magnus is ok with draws falls apart a bit if he tries another Sicilian though

Well he is definitely happy to draw as black as long as the score is tied. Will be interesting to see what Caruana has prepped for tomorrow.

this is fascinating. Same line of the Sicilian played again. And you have to think that Magnus was playing games a little bit. The amount of time he took implied he wasn't comfortable. But as we've moved down a specific line Magnus has actually increased his speed while Fabi is not eating up time. Almost spent as much time as Magnus now. You get the sense that Magnus has got away with a bluff somehow.

Looks a lot better for Magnus than last time he was black. Pretty balanced position through 19.

both guys are burning a lot of time. Qg5 from Magnus just leaves a pawn hanging surely? But I guess it's such an aggressive move Fabi is going to have to do his due diligence before getting materialistic

seems to me all outcomes are still possible here, but probably a very slight edge to Magnus. If he can just find a way to knit all his wayward pawns together my confidence in that assessment increases. Certainly doesn't feel like Magnus is settling for the tie break!

after QxB Magnus's positions starts to look better and better with that fantastic central pawn chain and White trapped King. All he has to do is force an end game and it's going to be almost lost for White.

Caruana is going to lose. Might be even but this low on time in a complex position equals a loss. Comes back to "no one likes to be attacked". Magnus saw the weakness in game 8 and has gone back to the well

to be honest I was expecting Rfc8 not Bd8. Now I'm a bit confused about what Magnus is trying to do

ok so they've both reached the time controls, odds of a draw very very high

Looks like a draw. Cjessgames had a much different time remaining for Caruana after 27 or 28 moves. They had him down to 5 minutes while chess.com had him over 10 which seemed to be the case.

yes the time controls get very confusing. I had chess24 and chessbomb running. Chess24 is worth watching because it's got Giri, Svidler and Grischuk discussing the game. They now think that Fabi has some difficulties. They didn't like his Kh2 move

Another draw. There are draws and there are draws!| This was by far the sharpest game. I have to say these are two seriously impressive dudes. I don't think it's unreasonable to say that this might be the highest level of chess played in a World Championship final. Maybe there's some recency bias but the depth of chess these guys are playing probably exceeds Karpov - Kasparov no?

Yeah it's thus far the best match I've seen. I wasn't paying attention to chess during those K matches so it is hard to compare. I've played over the games but not the same as watching live. Chess is just different in general with computer preparation and people being able to defend like machines. Interested to see Carlsen's strategy for game 11. It kind of seems in this match that he is having trouble with aggressive play. The pawn storms in game 8 and 10 have created some inaccuracies from Caruana but other times he has been aggressive, including the endgame today, he has been mostly outplayed. Kind of seems he has been playing with fire for a bit in this match. I expect he will play a quiet game 11, happy to draw. Then he just needs to draw game 12 and it's like over
