2 intriguing matches this morning;
Can Vasek Pospisil keep it going against Stepanek and if Fogna could translate on HC his improved confidence coming off clay against Ernesto

Wawrinka and Paire are about to start as well. I believe this is another good match.

Fognini tends to lose the first set in most cases and then makes a comeback (lately) so it will be interesting to see if this happens here as well against a player like Gulbis.

Gulbis 5-2 up in the 1st set.

Janowicz-Nadal now looming....

After Janowicz's tight victory over Benneteau yesterday, both players are just one win away from making this match happen. Hopefully it does happen.

Now does anyone on the board see Nadal being able to win a set if he plays against Janowicz? I personally don't think he will but I think he has a chance at it. I am interested to hear what the rest of the board thinks.

Big win for Popsickle. He has been losing close matches like this and this should help him build confidence.

There was a nice article featuring Vasek Pospisil this week end on the ATP site:

http://www.atpworldtour.com/News/Tennis/2013/07/31/Emirates-Stars-Of-Tomorrow-Vasek-Pospisil.aspx

Great timing, to explain to the fans, where his improvement is coming from

Really interesting insight. Thanks, herios. Those of us paying attention have seem him as a factor in doubles, but clearly he's poised to take the next step in singles. I thought he did all the right things against Isner today. Great performance.

He is poised all right and he indeed takes another scalp, Radek Stepanek's.
This will just put pressure on Milos as well, to play better.
I am thrilled for the Canadian boys.

These 2 are best buddies, these are usually difficult for both parties involved.

Well done Popsicle. I could not watch it since I was at Rexall Centre watching some WTA action, well, more like the training sessions because that is what I really wanted to see anyways. Bartoli is really a bit overweight...and yes, I can take her...;). It is remarkable how hard she trains and still have some baby fat...
Anyways, might be the end of the road for Pospisil, but this tournament will help him a lot I think.
Murray won against Granola but he did not look particularly good today. Hopefully he will get better.

By coincidence, so do I. Baron Britbox asked the Fed fans who they liked, since Roger wasn't playing. All hearts and flowers for Murray, Djokovic and Juan Martín. You just happened to mention "he who should not be named."

I am a huge Fed fan, but one that likes Rafa too... I realize it is weird...;)

To some, it's weird, but that's unfortunate. I love them both. One wouldn't exist without the other. They pushed each other to become better players, and we're now lucky enough to be witnessing two of the all-time greats playing each other in the same era.

People talk about, "Wouldn't it have been great to see Federer play Laver? Or Nadal play Borg?" -- the underlying idea being imagine how great it would have been to have seen two of the greatest players ever to pick up a racquet go up against each other, at their peaks. We don't have to imagine one of those possible match-ups. We're seeing it right now with Federer and Nadal.

If all potential rivalries were as lopsided and uninteresting as this one I wouldn't care to see them. Rafa never made Fed a better player, he made him a much worse one in fact.

That just sounds like sour grapes. Well, I beg to differ, and I'm not the only one.

And even Roger credited Rafa in that McEnroe interview a few years ago for helping to improve his backhand.

Well, a win's a win, Siddy! Andy doesn't need to put out a master class performance right now.

Hi Emma atm it's matches under his belt getting ready for the USO,i'm sure that's Andy's main focus. If Andy wins his next Match v Gulbis he might be very hard to beat here.

There is no way he is beating Djokovic this week.

There's too much yellow in this Nadal match. Between him and his opponent it's like 2 bumblebees going at it. :D

The same was happening on Monday, both players in bright yellow.
I have to check out the fashion stores again, the last time I was there I saw only coral, pale green and purple dominating the spectrum.:D

Filip Peliwo in the bootcamp, learns fast how to play in the big league, lost first set to Istomin 3-6, but he is now up a break in the second.

Go Filip!!

I like coral. I'm not sure that's a color many men desire to wear though.

I'd be more worried about Nadal,Djokovic might have to play him before the Final ;) no one is in the Final till thay win enough matches.Djokovic/Nadal/Murray/Potty.
