All valid points of course but my bottom line remains:
Rafa is not going to win anything of any significance unless the burning inner fire returns. And he proceeds to go put in the very long hard yards on the clay courts and on the fitness front.
the youth and the natural, God given VO2max has declined. He is also not the physical animal he used to be.
a while back when Ferru worked him over and ran all over him, his answer was this:
"well Ferru has been working hard for over a month and training hard". Not those exact words of course.
translation: I have been farting around while others are working hard.

this has to change and I have seen very little indication of it. He had some time to prepare near the end of last year also but did not.
you saw what Andy did to him in Abu Dhabi. It was 6-2, 6-0.
and then he showed  up even less prepared for the Australian Open. Berdych demolished him. when has berdych ever been able to do that to Rafa.
i can go on but you get the idea. Talk is just talk. I am not seeing enough improvement in his ground game and his fitness. He is already on record for saying that he won't be prepared for Melbourne.
translation: don't expect much from me because I don't feel like working like a dog.
he has to show me something on the red clay in Europe.
More on this later.
