Apparently asking for him to get to the QF or SF is a tall order right now. Look what happened this week when he faced someone w/ an abysmal record against #1s
How many tennis players have any winning record against #1s, in fairness? And he was playing Monfils, who is playing like the talented player that he is, and with a new attitude towards aggressiveness. I think Medvedev has a lot in his head right now, but he'll come back to Earth before too long, I believe.

I am actually being serious here, the only player who on the top of my head has a winning record against Number 1 ranked players: Jiri Vesely

He is 2-0 against Djokovic (both instances Djokovic was ranked number 1 in the world)

And he is 0-1 against Nadal (Nadal was ranked number 1 in the world at the time).

Interesting facts lol…

There's a handful I can think of w/ a pretty decent record against #1s. Vesely, Dominic, RBA, Nicky

Right, but that's a "handful." At least Gael had even done it once. To sneer at Daniil for losing to a player with a "dismal record" v. #1s is to spin it rather wrongly, IMO. I think Monfils wasn't a great draw for him today, even before the match started. An experienced player, not cowed by a top guy, with a game to match him trick-for-trick. He could have done worse than lose to Monfils today. He could have done like Novak and lost to #123 in the world, as Djokovic did in Dubai. Vesely may be a giant killer, (to Novak,) but he hasn't done much else, or surely compared to Monfils.

With Tsitsipas losing to Brooksby, 4 out of the Top 5 seeds on the men side are gone before the 4R, including a Top 2 player who is not even in the country.

Guess who’s the only Top 5 male player left in the draw?

Speaking of basketball, I think Kyrgios is happier playing in a basketball shirt, which he's been doing all year.

Nick, aside from a small bit of chuntering, and etc., is a game away. Good Nick still in play, so far....

They say this is Nick's first top 10 win in a few years. (Ruud is top 10?) Anyway, this is Nick caring about matches that aren't so glamorous, not goofing off, hardly any drama. Nice to see the Good Nick still in the house.

Good for Nick for staying focus so far in this tournament. However, I want to see Nadal-Sinner on a HC this Thursday.
